The Table of Thoughts Ola Szostak & Willemijn Schellekens have been working together for a few years now. Ola is a visual artist, Willemijn is a graphic designer, performer and art director. Together they combine imagination with crafts. Their starting point is different, their cultural backgrounds clash and merge together. Willemijn is from Rotterdam (NL) and Ola from Gdansk (PL), both very large port cities.

The Table of Thoughts The audience sees a long table set with excentric plates and other accessories. Twelve persons at a time are invited to sit down, put on a headphone and listen to the thoughts of the character/plate in front of them. An auditory installation The table attracts the attention of the audience visually and with the sounds of a meal in progress: a little laughter, snatches of conversation, the sound of cutlery, glasses toasting? What s going on? Is it a party, a family diner, a reunion, a wedding or maybe a funeral? The Table of Thoughts is set with short stories on the headsets and on the table. The more you look, the more you discover. Each plate has it s own story and design. Do the hosts know each other? And who are you? What are you thinking? What thoughts will you tell about and which will you keep inside? And what s the host in front of you thinking about? The Table of Thoughts will let you discover the twelve thoughts of the hosts, thoughts that will never be spoken out loud. You can choose to listen to just one short story (3 minutes) or go around the table and listen to them all. Then you will discover the thread that links all those different characters. When you sit down at the Table you enter into the universe of that character and assume it s personality. You become part of the installation. You can see/hear, but the other table guests will see you too.
