The OnApp Federation Instant scale and reach for your cloud

Instant scale and reach for your cloud The OnApp Federation is a global network of clouds you can use, on demand, to add scale and reach to your own cloud infrastructure. It gives you instant access to CPU, RAM, storage, content caching and network resources in cities all over the world, so you can offer cloud services that take your customers into new markets; host their apps and content close to their end users; help them deal with data protection and compliance issues; and provide more scale and reach than any of the world s largest clouds.

Get the scale and reach your customers need The OnApp Federation launched with capacity at more than 170 locations in 113 cities, across 43 countries, and is growing all the time. You can extend your cloud in real time with compute and content delivery resources from as many locations as you need, and make it available to your customers as a seamless part of your service. Just pay as you go for new infrastructure You don t have to invest in new hardware or build new datacenters to expand your cloud. You can do it on demand through the Federation. When a customer asks for more scale than you have available, or wants to deploy applications in new regions, you just dial up what you need - you only pay when your customers use it. And if you do decide to deploy new infrastructure in a region, the Federation gives you a risk-free way to test the market first. Create unique cloud services with ease The range of locations available in the OnApp Federation makes it easy to launch hosting services for different customer needs. Choose high performance locations and sell hosting for the most intensive apps, or value locations for consumer websites and blogs. Choose locations with renewable energy and launch green cloud hosting services. Or use specialized content delivery locations to build your own CDN service. The range of products and services you can offer via the Federation is growing all the time. Help customers deal with privacy & compliance Customers working in finance, healthcare, public sector, social media and many other industries face new challenges to ensure their apps and data are hosted in specific countries, or not hosted in specific countries. The OnApp Federation gives you full control over data locality, so you can offer cloud hosting services that include or exclude the regions your customers care about. Sell capacity and create new revenue streams You can sell cloud infrastructure to the OnApp Federation, too. You set the wholesale price and get paid when other members of the Federation use your resources. It s an easy way to monetize spare capacity, and create revenue from infrastructure in unusual or high-traffic locations, or infrastructure with attractive price, performance or uptime characteristics.

SEL A single pane of glass for global cloud infrastructure Each cloud in the Federation is provided by hosts, telcos and other service providers running on the OnApp cloud platform. Using your OnApp control panel you can buy capacity, on demand, and make it available to your customers alongside your own. You can sell capacity to the Federation too. With thousands of clouds deployed worldwide, it gives you instant access to global cloud infrastructure, and a ready-made sales channel for the cloud infrastructure you already own. BUY BUY BUY

Different ways to use the Federation The OnApp Federation gives you many ways to grow, scale and differentiate. Sell local, regional and global public cloud With thousands of OnApp clouds around the world, the Federation can offer very granular coverage within a specific country or region. You can expand your capacity in London to cope with peaks in demand, add a new West Coast location to your East Coast datacenter, or build a truly global cloud service with zones available everywhere. SELL Sell CDN The OnApp Federation offers 170+ CDN locations, so you can sell content delivery services for websites, files, Video on Demand and live streaming. If you need more CDN locations for your customers, there are thousands of clouds available with additional capacity. It s the world s largest content delivery network. L Resell your cloud The Federation supports private locations too. You can offer your local capacity on the Federation but restrict it to specific service providers, giving you a simple way to resell your OnApp cloud globally. Create private federations across multiple clouds If you re a large service provider or telco, with a network of existing datacenters, you can create private federations across your own infrastructure. This gives your customers an easy way to deploy applications at any of your sites through one control panel. You can also use the Federation to create private CDNs. Just sell capacity There are pure infrastructure providers on the Federation too. You can publish your locations to the Federation and monetize your investment in infrastructure, with little or no sales and marketing, and minimal admin effort.

OnApp Market OnApp Market is the key enabling technology for the OnApp Federation. It s a wholesale, service provider-to-service provider marketplace for cloud infrastructure. OnApp Market connects each cloud in the Federation, and enables Federation members to buy and sell infrastructure. It provides metadata about the locations available and handles all transactions between Federation members. Cloud Provider sell buy buy On Ma Buying capacity for your customers to use To make Federation locations available to your customers, you simply browse the locations available and subscribe to as many as you like. You control the way they re presented to your customers - e.g. as your New York zone or Asia-Pacific zone - and you set the retail price your customers will pay. The locations you choose are presented to your customers as a seamless part of the create virtual server wizard. Cloud Provider Selling capacity to other providers Selling capacity is very straightforward too. Through the OnApp control panel or API, you choose a local hypervisor zone to make available to the Federation, along with its associated datastore and network zones; set its wholesale pricing; and choose to publish it. Your Federation zone is managed alongside your local zones in just the same way. sell Get started with the OnApp Federation It s easy to get started with the OnApp Federation - even if you have no cloud infrastructure of OnApp cloud providers Once your OnApp cloud has been enabled for the Federation, you re ready to go: you can subscribe to any locations you want to use for your cloud service, and publish any locations you want to sell.

sell Cloud Provider App rket buy buy One account sell Cloud Provider OnApp Market handles all Federation transactions. No matter how many locations you use, or how many providers use your infrastructure, you have just one account. Each month you are invoiced for the wholesale capacity you have bought for your customers to use, and credited for the capacity you have sold to other providers. Performance and uptime metadata Transparency is built into OnApp Market at every level, so when you re buying infrastructure for your customers to use, you can make an informed decision based on independent data about the price, performance and uptime of each location. Ratings are based on hardware specs, storage performance, bandwidth and uptime. For the most demanding applications we can also offer a managed SLA: we ll select the locations that fit the price/performance/reliability you need, and provide an additional level of monitoring and support if required for example, to guarantee performance for a customers product launch or live event. your own. Virtual Service Providers You can build services on the OnApp Federation even if you have no local cloud infrastructure. The Virtual Service Provider (VSP) edition of OnApp has all the tools you need to build and manage your cloud service, and connects to the Federation via OnApp Market, just like the full version of OnApp. The VSP edition of OnApp comes with a ready-to-run control panel to make it as easy as possible to start selling cloud hosting services. The control panel is open source and fully customizable. The VSP edition of OnApp has a full API, so you can also integrate with a different front end if you choose.
