Introduction This document contains detailed installation procedures for recently supported operating systems. For troubleshooting procedures, refer to the Diamond II Troubleshooting Guide located on the Diamond II installation CD in the folder: \Manuals\Diamond II\. Installing SQL Server 2008 This section provides procedures for Installing SQL 2008 onto Windows Server 2008 R2 and Installing SQL 2008 onto Windows Server 2003 R2. Please read the appropriate section for your installation. Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Installation of SQL 2008 on Windows Server 2008 R2 requires that the Application Server role be installed on the server computer. To install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 on Windows 2008 R2: 1. From Window's Control Panel, under Programs, select Turn Windows features on or off. 2. Select Roles. 3. Select Add Roles. 4. For Before You Begin select Next. 5. From the list of Server Roles select Application Server. 6. For Add Roles Wizard select Add Required Features. 7. For Select Server Roles select Next. 8. For Application Server select Next. 9. For Select Role Services select Next. 10. For Confirm installation Selections select Install. 11. After the installation completes click Close. 12. Close the Server Manager window. 13. Insert the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 DVD. 14. When the AutoPlay page opens, click Run SETUP.EXE. 15. To the User Account Control warning click Yes. 16. 17. The SQL Server Installation Center window opens as shown in Figure 1. 18. Please go to the topic "SQL Server Installation Center" on page 3. To Install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 on Windows 2003 R2: 1. Insert the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 DVD. The Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Setup page opens. 2. A window displays a list of prerequisites required prior to installing SQL Server. Click OK to begin installing the components. 3. When the.net Framework Welcome to Setup page opens, review the agreement, select I have read and ACCEPT the terms of the License Agreement, and then click Install. 4. When the process is complete, the.net Installation complete page opens, click Exit. 5. The Windows Update Standalone Installer page opens, click Next to install Windows software updates. 6. When the Software Update Installation Wizard opens, review the agreement, select I Agree and then click Next. 7. Select Continue to update the Window s installer. 8. A dialog box opens indicating that the installation is complete. Click Finish to restart the computer. 9. To the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Setup click OK. 10. After the computer has been restarted, log on with an Administrator account. 11. You must restart the SQL Server 2008 installation again by either of the following methods: Open and close your CD/DVD drive to initialize setup Using Windows Explorer, browse to the CD/DVD drive and double-click Setup.exe. 12. SQL Server Installation Center Figure 1: SQL Server Installation Center 1. The SQL Server Installation Center should appear. Select Installation then New SQL Server stand-alone or add features to an existing installation. If the Program Compatibility Assistant appears click Run Program. 2. The Setup Support Rules window opens. When the operation is complete, click OK. 3. The Product Key window opens. If the product key is not already entered for you, enter the product key, and then click Next. 4. The License Terms window opens. Review the agreement, and then select I accept the license terms. Click Next. 5. The Setup Support Files page opens and provides a list of components that are required for SQL Server setup. Click Install. 6. The Setup Support Rules page opens and identifies problems that might occur when you install SQL Server Setup support files. Click Next. 7. The Feature Selection page opens as shown in Figure 2. Database Engine Services Shared Features Client Tools Connectivity Integration Services Client Tools Backwards Compatibility Management Tools - Basic Management Tools - Complete. Figure 2: Feature Selection 8. The Instance Configuration page opens. Select Default Instance and click Next. Note: SQL Instances are allowed. 9. The Disk Space Requirements page opens. Figure 3: Server Configuration 11. Select the Browse button. (Insure the "From this location" box has the Entire Directory selected.) For the "Enter the object name to select" box, enter the name of a user account and select Check Names. (This could be administrator.) The name should be returned underscored to show the user account was found. Click OK. 12. Enter the password of the account and click OK. 13. Change the Startup Type to Automatic for SQL Server Agent and click Next. 14. The Database Engine Configuration page opens. Click the Account Provisioning tab, and then configure the settings as follows: See Figure 4 For Authentication Mode, click Mixed Mode (SQL Server authentication and Windows authentication). For Enter password, enter a strong password like: SecurityMaster08 For Confirm password, re-enter the same password. Note: This password is important. When you install the Diamond II application, the Diamond II installer will prompt for the user account SA and the password you enter here. Diamond II v2.3 Service Pack 4 Installation Manual 5
15. Click Add Current User and click Next. Figure 4: Database Engine Configuration 16. The Error and Usage Reporting page opens. Click Next. 17. The Installation Rules page opens. Click Next. 18. The Ready to Install page opens. Click Install. 19. The Installation Progress page opens. When the setup process is complete, click Next. 20. The Complete page opens. Click Close. 21. We recommend that you restart your computer at this time. 22. Remember to install all the latest Service Packs for SQL 2008 Server. Verifying SQL Server Services When the system is restarted, log in as Administrator. Once SQL Server is installed, you should verify that it is installed properly and the service is running. To ensure SQL server services is running: 1. Click Start, Control Panel, then double-click Administrative Tools. 2. The Administrative Tools page opens. 3. The Services page opens. Locate SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER). The status should read Started, which means that the service is running. 4. If it is blank, then the service is not running. Installing Diamond II server on Windows Server 2008 R2 Recommended minimum requirements Diamond II is designed to operate on a system that meets these minimum requirements for hardware and software. Hardware The minimum hardware requirements for the Server are listed below. P4 2 GHz 2 GB RAM CD/DVD drive 10/100 Mb network card 1024 by 768 resolution, 16-bit color display 20 GB available hard drive space Hard drive space will vary depending on your system environment. If you elect to partition your hard drive, verify that sufficient space remains in your system drive for your program files to load properly. Server software Microsoft Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2 Standard (Full Installation) Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or 2008 Recommended: Ability for remote Internet access support Installing Windows Server Install Windows Server on to the computer. You must assign a static IP address to the server. Attach the server computer to the domain. If there is no domain controller, then the Diamond II server computer can be configured to be a domain controller. Installing SQL Server Diamond II requires SQL Authentication also know as "Mixed Mode." SQL instances are acceptable, as long as Diamond II can access the instance via an instance name and not by port number. 8 Diamond II v2.3 Service Pack 4 Installation Manual
Diamond II uses the SQL Server Agent to run jobs in the background. Installing Diamond II server Prerequisites Windows 2008 Server already installed on computer. Administrator permissions to log into the computers. Computer joined to a windows domain. SQL Server already installed. Diamond II Installation Files. Diamond II license file (sysconfg.dat). USB Software Sentinel dongle. Steps 1. Install Diamond II server. 2. Start Diamond II for the first time. 3. Start the Diamond II workstation for the first time 4. Modify Window's Taskbar. 5. 1. Installing Diamond II server for the first time 1. Log onto the computer as the Administrator. 2. Insert the Diamond II Service Pack 4 CD into the CD drive. 3. If Auto Insert Notification is enabled for your CD drive the Diamond II Installation menu will appear. Otherwise, double-click on the CD and doubleclick "Startup_Menu" (located in the root directory of the CD). The Diamond II Installation menu should appear. 4. 5. From the Sentinel Protection Installer screen, click Next to continue 6. From the Sentinel Protection Installer License Agreement screen read the license agreement. 9. From the Firewall detected screen, click No. 10. The software installation should start. To the InstallShield Install Wizard, click Finish. 11. Select "Start the Diamond II Installer" from the Diamond II Installation menu. 12. From the Welcome to Diamond II screen, click Next. 13. From the License Agreement screen, read the license agreement. If you agree, click I Agree and click Next. 14. From the Select Install Folder screen, select the folder where Diamond II will be installed. The Everyone option should be selected. Click Next. 15. From the Confirm Installation screen, click Next. 16. The Diamond II application should begin to install. The next screen will be the Server or Workstation selection screen. Select Server and OK. 17. The Diamond II Server Installation window will appear: For "Domain Name", enter the name of the window's domain. For "Database Server Name", enter the SQL server name. You can include the database server name\instance name if you are not using the default instance. For "Database Logon", enter the SQL User account, (maybe SA, it cannot be a window's user account) For "Database Password", enter the password for the SQL user account. For "Install a new database", check the box. For "Redundant Server", do not check the box. To continue click Update Registry/Master Directory. 14 Diamond II v2.3 Service Pack 4 Installation Manual
Note: If an invalid Database Server Name, Database Logon or Database Password was entered the following message will appear: You must correct the problem before proceeding. Note: If you are upgrading an existing installation, the following will be displayed. Click No to continue. 18. If installing Diamond II for the first time, the installer will prompt for the location of the Diamond II license file. Click the Browse button to browse to the location of the sysconfg.dat file. 19. 20. Click OK to continue 21. Click Close to close the Diamond II installation program. 22.To obtain the latest USB Software Sentinel drivers visit the following link: http://www.safenet-inc.com/support/tech/sentinel.asp and download the Sentinel Protection Installer (version 7.6.1 or above) and the Sentinel Advanced Medic v1.31 or higher (Diagnostic Utility). 22. 2. Starting Diamond II for the first time 1. From Start, select Administrator Tools, and then select Services. Locate D2Server. 2. Right mouse click on D2Server and select Properties. Change the Startup Type to Automatic, click Start and click OK. Note: The service should start and a low tone then high tone should be heard from the computer's speaker. If the service does not start, the installation program was not successful (Try uninstalling and re-installing the program). 3. Close the Service's window. Note: If the test is not successful, check window's application log for error messages. From the Start button, click Programs, Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer's Application log. Note: The CD contains the file "Diamond_II_Troubleshooting" to assist in troubleshooting problems. 3. Starting the Diamond II workstation for the first time 1. Next double click on the Diamond II icon on the desktop. You will get 3 of these Windows Security Warnings. Click Yes to each. 2. The Diamond II Log On box should appear. For Server name, enter the short name of this computer. For User name, enter Admin For Password, leave it blank Click OK 18 Diamond II v2.3 Service Pack 4 Installation Manual
You should see. If you do not see the Executing Directory Synchronization message, check the Window's Event Viewer's Application log. From Start, select Administrator Tools, then Event Viewer and then Windows Logs. The application log will report Diamond II errors like Copy Protection Not Found. If this is the case, insure the USB Software Sentinel dongle for Diamond II is plugged in and restart the computer. Then the Diamond II Main Menu will appear. 3. Select Log Off, and close the Diamond II application. 4. Wait 10 Seconds and open the Diamond II application again to verify the login is working correctly. 5. Disabling Windows Firewall 1. On the Primary Server, from Start, select Administrator Tools and Windows Firewall with Advanced Security. 2. Select Windows Firewall Properties. 3. Select the Domain Profile tab and set the Firewall state to Off and click OK. 4. Close the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security window. Diamond II v2.3 Service Pack 4 Installation Manual 21
6. Enable Desktop Experience 1. From Window's Control Panel, under Programs, select Turn Windows features on or off. 2. Select Features, then Add Features. Select Desktop Experience a pop-up window will appear. 3. Click Add Required Feature. 4. At the Select Feature screen select Next. 5. At the confirm Installation Selections, click Install. It will take a few minutes to install and the system will want to restart the computer. 6. At the Installation Results screen click Close. 7. Click Yes to "Do you want to restart now?" 8. The system will install the required files and restart the computer twice. After you log into windows the Installation Results screen will again appear, this time indicating the Installation succeeded. Click Close. Notes on Windows Server 2008 R2 Server 2008 adds a lot of security features by default. For example the system may prompt to change passwords every 42 days or have a minimum password length. 22 Diamond II v2.3 Service Pack 4 Installation Manual
If your computer is a domain controller: The system may prompt to change passwords every 42 days. To disable this feature, Click Start, then All Programs, then Administrative Tools and then Group Policy Management. Expand the Forest. Expand the Domains Expand the local domain. Right mouse click on Default Domain Policy and select Edit. The Group Policy Management Editor appears Expand Computer Configuration Expand Policies Expand Windows Settings Expand Security Settings Expand Account Policies Expand Password Policy Modify the appropriate value and close the Group Management Policy editor. For Message Queues, enter the short name of the Primary computer, the pipe " " symbol and the short name of the backup computer. For Redundant DB Server Name, enter the short name (and instance name) of the Redundant SQL database server. Click Save. Note: On the Primary computer the Diamond II logon will show the primary's computer name. On the backup computer the Diamond II logon can show either the primary or backup computer's name. For Redundant Systems Diamond II has a Windows service that checks the heart beat on both servers. For this to occur, we assign a domain user account to the service so it can connect to both computers. The domain user account will need local admin rights assigned on both computers. Close the Server Management on both the Primary and backup computers. 8. On the Primary Server, start the Diamond II application. Log onto the server and select Setup and Instruction Messages. Enter a name in the Name field and some text in the text message box and click Add. 9. On the backup computer, start the Diamond II application. Log onto the server and select Setup and Instruction Messages. Click Search; verify the new Instruction Message is present. For this to occur, we assign a domain user account to the service so it can connect to both computes. The domain user account will need local admin rights assigned on both computers.
