Post Specification Post Title: Research Projects Coordinator - fulltime Post Status: 1-Year Contract Science Gallery Department: Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin Science Gallery, Naughton Institute, Location: Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin College Green, Dublin 2, Ireland Reports to: Science Gallery Education and Learning Manager Salary: Research Assistant Level 2 Closing Date and Time: 12 Noon on 27th November 2015 Post Summary Science Gallery Dublin (www.sciencegallery.com ) at Trinity College Dublin seeks to appoint a Research Projects Coordinator. This is a full-time role and the position will be awarded as a 1-year contract. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work flexibly with a dedicated core team in a busy environment and has experience in managing and implementing Projects, particularly a familiarity with projects funded through EC FP7 and H2020. S/he will share a passion for the mission and vision of Science Gallery with a strong background in science, engineering, education and/or technology. Background to Post Reporting directly to the Science Gallery Education Manager and Science Gallery Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and coordinating research projects for Science Gallery Dublin integrated with core programming and working with a variety of external collaborators, artists, scientists, curators, educators and other partners. The Research Projects Coordinator will additionally play a key role in feeding into the strategic objectives of Science Gallery Dublin and the college as outlined in the college Strategic Plan 2009 2014. S/he will lead the development of Science Gallery Dublin research projects and continue to develop Science Gallery s global network through international research collaboration. Principal Responsibilities - The appointee will be responsible for: 1

2 Development, management and co-ordination of research projects, including Horizon2020 projects, at Science Gallery Dublin, working with the Science Gallery Director, Education Manager and Science Gallery team; Fulfill mission of Science Gallery as a creative platform through development of innovative research projects and programmes, including research, logistical and financial coordination of existing FP7 and H2020 research grants as well as development of new research proposals and networks; Develop research networks for Science Gallery in Europe at project meetings and conferences Lead the preparation of proposals for new research projects; Coordinate collection, collation and validation of information for quarterly and interim project reports for Science Gallery - drive the preparation and publication of the reports pertaining to research projects in Science Gallery, Trinity College Dublin; Carry out research into Responsible Research and Innovation, Education and Public Engagement for European Commission Projects for Science Gallery; Liaise with appropriate administrative departments within Trinity including Trinity Research & Innovation, Treasurer s Office, Staff Office, Secretary s Office etc. in the coordination of Science Gallery research projects; Assist in coordination of all partners and work packages within Research Projects; Maintain and update the Science Gallery Dublin website pertaining to research projects; Act as key contact point in day to day running of research projects and coordinate input from Science Gallery Dublin researcher team; Ensure that the research project deliverables link in with Science Gallery Dublin programming; Perform any other duties commensurate with the grade as may be required by the Director of Science Gallery Dublin Person Specification Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience The ideal candidate will have a third level qualification in Science, Humanities or Communications with an interest in cross diciplinary projects A post-graduate qualification in a science or cultural field would be advantageous Experience in developing and managing research projects Experience in research project coordination and execution Familiarity with National and International Funding Frameworks particularly those of the European Comission Experience of writing project funding proposals Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Excellent knowledge and experience of the field of public engagement with science and technology Application Requirement In order to assist the selection process, candidates should submit a CV with their
