This guide details the critical points of installing the PTOS software from specific technology requirements to explicit hardware recommendations. Have Questions? PTOS Technical Support: 800-824-4305

Hardware Requirements Server 1-9 Workstations Intel Core i5 8 GB 1 TB 7200 RPM SATA 2 or faster, mirrored (RAID 1) Windows 7 or 8 Professional Dedicated Server 10-25 Workstations Supported Server s Windows Server 2008 Standard Windows Server 2012 Standard Windows Vista Business SP1 Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 Windows 8 Professional Workstation Intel Xeon 8-32 GB (variable with # of workstations) 2 TB 7200 RPM SATA 2 or faster, mirrored (RAID 1) Server grade OS (i.e. Server 2012 Standard) Server Notes: To utilize more than 4 GB of in your server, you will need to use a 64-bit OS By running PTOS on your server, the database program (SQL Express) uses 2 GB Storage of documents (patient notes, scanned documents, etc) may require a larger capacity hard drive If using Terminal Services, a Terminal server may be required based on the number of users or locations Intel Core i5 4 GB 250 GB or larger See below Supported Workstation s Windows Vista Business Windows Vista Ultimate Windows 8 and 8.1 Professional Supported with PTOS v6.0 and higher 1

PTOS Web-Based Documentation Supported Web-Based Documentation s Windows 8 Professional Server 2008 R2 Server 2012 Standard Tested Devices Currently, Web-based Documentation has been tested with the following devices: ipad (does not include ipad Mini or ipad Air) ipod Touch iphone 5 Android Phone Notes Notes Home Editions of Windows PTOS does not support any Home Edition Windows 8 PTOS 5.6 supports Windows 8 as a Workstation PTOS 6.0 and above supports Windows 8 as either Server or Workstation Windows Vista User Account Controls Watermark in PTOS Windows-based Documentation Windows User Permissions XCharge and OpenEdge Vista Ultimate 32 and 64 bit editions were tested. All other Vista systems were tested in only 32 bit only. The installation of PTOS might require the user account controls to be turned off. If your system has user account controls, please turn off before installing the PTOS software. The watermark that appears on closed notes in the PTOS documentation doesn t appear on any 64 bit operating system. This is a limitation of Amyuni and 64 bit systems. Windows users must have local administrative rights to install PTOS on a server or workstations By July 1, 2016 computers are required to be on either: Windows 7 or higher Server 2008 or higher Internet Explorer 11 IE 11 is not compatible with Windows-based Documentation. Systems that come pre-installed with IE 11 typically cannot be downgraded (e.g., Win 8, Server 2012, etc.) Additional Information Additional Components that Install with PTOS Windows Installer Microsoft.NET Framework Patterson Auto Updater (PAU) Microsoft SQL Server (Express version) Adobe Reader Amyuni PDF Converter Crystal Reports 2

Additional Recommendations Anti-Virus Software Spyware Firewall Internet Browser Backup Solution Internet Additional Information Continued Battery Backups Industry Standard Third Party Integration Requirements Printers We have found that PCL5 and 5e printer drivers yield the best printing results inside of PTOS. At this time we do not have a recommended printer for preprinted insurance forms Connectivity to POP3 email system or exchange server is required for certain advanced functionality in PTOS. Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2000 or higher is required to export data to Microsoft Office Excel or Microsoft Office Word. A DSL or faster internet connection is required for email services and product updates. Remote Locations/Multiple Sites PTOS Licensing To utilize remote connectivity, clients must have the proper Network Version and Licensing of PTOS in order to ensure data integrity across the network connection. Consult with a PTOS Sales Representative to ensure you have proper licensing. Terminal Services Terminal Services is required for remote access from a location other than where the database is housed For Remote Desktop (Terminal Services) connections in any capacity (thin clients, remote locations or in-house connections), a Dedicated Terminal Server should be implemented rather than using the Data server. PTOS Support Specialists do not assist in the set up of terminal services; this is something that the office hardware technician must address. When using Terminal Services, your hardware tech might need to increase the recommended depending on the # of connections. Virtual Private Network (VPN) To be supported by a hardware provider Windows Defender or Malware Bytes Anti-Malware Hardware Firewall; We do not recommend 3 rd Party Software Internet Explorer 10 & 11, Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari We recommend PattLock Online Backup Solution Required for email/efax capabilities and receiving PTOS updates PTOS does not recommend utilizing a VPN with PTOS. A VPN connects the components and resources of one network with another network, laptop, or wireless device over the internet. Remote users are able to connect to the Main office s LAN and access shared resources, applications, and documents through the internet or any IP network. This method is known to negatively impact performance within PTOS and is therefore not recommended or supported. 3

Wireless Networks Many offices use wireless networks to access PTOS from both inside and outside their clinics and for using PTOS web-based documentation. Wireless networks vary in terms of speed, coverage, and reliability. It is not uncommon for wireless networks to disconnect or lose a signal. When this occurs, it is possible for some work in process to be lost. When accessing PTOS via a wireless connection, it is the office s responsibility for resolving network connectivity issues and ensuring signal strength is optimal for users. PattLock Edge Drive Backups Setting your Backup Path Be sure to direct your Backup to the correct location by following these steps: 1. Open and Log into PTOS 2. Go to System Tasks Supervisor Config Parameters 3. Choose the Config Group System and the Parameter of dbbackup 4. Select the Edit icon in the top left and select the Browse button 5. Type in the shared backup location This folder needs to be created and shared out on the hard drive prior to setting this location. Default should be: \\Server\PTOSbackup 6. After you have typed in the correct path, click the Update icon located on the top left of the screen to save your changes PattLock We recommend PattLock for online backup solutions. A high speed internet connection is required for use with PattLock. PattLock also requires the use of a Patterson external hard drive (Edge Drive) for local backups. For more information on this solution, please contact your Sales Team at 800-824-4305. Your hardware technician is responsible for maintaining/installing all hardware devices, setting up all network connections and setting up external backups for proper data security. Please consult with your hardware representative in implementing the best solution for your office. Have Questions? PTOS Technical Support: 800-824-4305 4
