Additional Recommendations Anti-Virus Software Spyware Firewall Internet Browser Backup Solution Internet Additional Information Continued Battery Backups Industry Standard Third Party Integration Requirements Printers We have found that PCL5 and 5e printer drivers yield the best printing results inside of PTOS. At this time we do not have a recommended printer for preprinted insurance forms Connectivity to POP3 email system or exchange server is required for certain advanced functionality in PTOS. Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2000 or higher is required to export data to Microsoft Office Excel or Microsoft Office Word. A DSL or faster internet connection is required for email services and product updates. Remote Locations/Multiple Sites PTOS Licensing To utilize remote connectivity, clients must have the proper Network Version and Licensing of PTOS in order to ensure data integrity across the network connection. Consult with a PTOS Sales Representative to ensure you have proper licensing. Terminal Services Terminal Services is required for remote access from a location other than where the database is housed For Remote Desktop (Terminal Services) connections in any capacity (thin clients, remote locations or in-house connections), a Dedicated Terminal Server should be implemented rather than using the Data server. PTOS Support Specialists do not assist in the set up of terminal services; this is something that the office hardware technician must address. When using Terminal Services, your hardware tech might need to increase the recommended depending on the # of connections. Virtual Private Network (VPN) To be supported by a hardware provider Windows Defender or Malware Bytes Anti-Malware Hardware Firewall; We do not recommend 3 rd Party Software Internet Explorer 10 & 11, Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari We recommend PattLock Online Backup Solution Required for email/efax capabilities and receiving PTOS updates PTOS does not recommend utilizing a VPN with PTOS. A VPN connects the components and resources of one network with another network, laptop, or wireless device over the internet. Remote users are able to connect to the Main office s LAN and access shared resources, applications, and documents through the internet or any IP network. This method is known to negatively impact performance within PTOS and is therefore not recommended or supported. 3
Wireless Networks Many offices use wireless networks to access PTOS from both inside and outside their clinics and for using PTOS web-based documentation. Wireless networks vary in terms of speed, coverage, and reliability. It is not uncommon for wireless networks to disconnect or lose a signal. When this occurs, it is possible for some work in process to be lost. When accessing PTOS via a wireless connection, it is the office s responsibility for resolving network connectivity issues and ensuring signal strength is optimal for users.
