What is RTPD? RTPD stands for: Red de Talleres de Producción Digital in (Spanish) Digital Content Produc=on Workshop Network (English) RTPD is an NGO driven project is empowering local Mexican NGOs, Community Based Organiza=ons (CBOs) and academic ins=tu=ons through the seong up of educa1onal and cultural heritage mul1media content produc1on workshops that help them to strengthen their own local development impact
How to replicate RTPD? Some basic ingredients are needed: Local organiza=ons that aim to solve key local (social, environmental, economic, cultural) issues An energe=c, innova=ve and collabora=ve team that believes in g local development solu=ons Access and willingness to create access to socially mo=vated experts in IT, mul=media design, educa=on and local experts
Step 1. Meet locally ac1ve organiza1ons There are amazing local organiza=ons that now what their community s challenges are and spend all their efforts ac=vely figuring out solu=ons for their local issues many of them rely on mul=media material to deliver effec=ve communica=on strategies, capacity building and campaigning But they commonly lack: Infrastructure Adequate tools to impact effec=vely their target audiences Collabora=ve mechanisms with similar organiza=ons Access to new informa=on and virtual communi=es Basic know how in fund raising, management and marke=ng
Step 2. Get basic equipment You ll need: Computers Video devices Photo devices Audio devices You don t need proprietary so\ware!!! How? Fundraise Second hand quality dona=ons
Step 3. Install open source soiware Any semi recent PC will smoothly run in Ubuntu Just install the latest Open Office Gimp Scribus Inkscape Audacity PLONE Cinelerra
Step 4. Train your self and others You must have a commided core team: A mul=func=onal and socially oriented designer Open source empowered IT guys A mul= tasker administrator + ins=tu=onal development manager A teacher, educa=onalist or instruc=onal designer Socially commided enthusiasts Remember, every effort your team does in this project is meaningful so there are highly qualified volunteers everywhere Train, get trained by those your trained, learn and con=nue learning!!!
Step 5. Guide instruc1onal designers Instruc=onal design is the arrangement of media and content to help learners and teachers transfer knowledge effec=vely (wikipedia) Introducing and using some of the tons of different methodologies that exist is a enlightening experience for those that aim to deliver the right content with the right media to the right audience
Step 6. Only Crea=ve Commons (CC) protects and empowers social development organiza=ons to: use other s available mul=media elements to create locally relevant contents iden=fy contents and adapt them to their access and (re)use other s solu=ons to social, environmental and economic problems CC establishes the legal framework that allows an organiza=on to share, collaborate and (re)create locally relevant educa=onal and cultural contents

Agree on feedback & evalua1on Socially driven organiza=ons need to know that every ac=on they do is having a relevant impact on their mission and evolu=on The RTPD model establishes an empowerment structure that enables any organiza=on to enhance their local impact through the right use of technology and collabora=ve tools
Step 10.
