1 st -6 th July 2016 New advanced cement based materials have attracted the major interest of the researchers and structural designers who are investigating on light design solutions, sustainability and advanced retrofitting techniques. The interest comes from the experience of durability of thin layers of fibre reinforced materials which mix cement-based and geopolymer matrix, random fibres and fibres organized in fabrics made with different materials. The research on these topics is in progress and the strong effort devoted to these materials by a growing international community is changing quickly the reference parameters. After a survey at the state of the art of this subject the course would give to all the attendants the main bases to operate in the field applied to structural design of new structures and retrofitting of existing constructions, both in the framework of building technology and civil infrastructures. The course would also represent an opportunity for all the Ph.D. students who are researching in this field to fully understand the possibilities offered by the developing of these new materials. In order to favour this action and a successful transfer of knowledge, a mix of several national and international schools involved in these topics are jointed together.
