Introduction Virtual Administrative Skills builds and applies customer service and critical thinking skills while completing sixteen administrative tasks. The goal of the product is to gain proficiency and confidence in students abilities and skills to begin a career as an administrative medical assistant. The product provides instant feedback with rationales and students have the added ability to view their Performance Review, which will help them gain proficiency and confidence. Overview: This is a simulation in which student plays the role of a new employee at Douglasville Medical Associates, a family practice with three providers. They will work closely with the office manager, who assigns tasks to complete over their first week on the job. Tasks will require students to demonstrate professionalism and knowledge of key administrative functions, including customer service, financial and office maintenance activities. Tasks can be completed in any order by selecting them from the Weekly Planner or the Task Selection menu. If a student needs help, they can reference the Orientation Binder, which provides resources to assist them in completing their work. At the end of each task, they will receive feedback on their performance from the Office Manager. The office manager must be satisfied with their work in order for them to receive a passing score. If she isn t, they will be prompted to try again. Students can access all of their scores in their performance review on the last day of the week. Through successful completion of this simulation, students will feel more confident in their knowledge, ability, and skills to begin their careers as administrative medical assistants. Getting Started with Virtual Administrative Skills Logging in to Virtual Administrative Skills 1. To get started, navigate to: login.cengagebrain.com a. If this is your first time using a Cengage Learning Product, you will need to create a new account. 2. Create Profile a. Now you will need to enter the Virtual Administrative Skills access code which came with your text. 3. Complete the Account Information form, read, and accept the license agreement, and then click Continue. 4. You will now need to select your institution. 5. Once you locate your institution, you will be directed to your dashboard. 6. To access the Virtual Administrative Skills product which you just registered, press Open. Returning User 1.
