2 Honorary Jr. Mayor s Program Guidelines Mission Statement: The Jr. Honorary Mayor s Program is design to recognize the youth in our community dedicated to serving others and/or improving the quality of life for all and making the world a better place. Statement of Purpose/Function of Committee Committee shall actively and positively promote, through a good natured race among candidates for the title of JR Honorary Mayor. 1. The Jr. Honorary Mayor s Race Committee will consist of two (2) Chamber Members including the current Honorary Mayor. 2. The Jr. Honorary Mayor s Race Committee shall review all Candidates Application for approval. 3. The Jr. Honorary Mayor s Race Committee shall announce the approved candidates, who fulfill the requirements within three (3) working days after the application-filing deadline May 1st, 2015. 4. The Jr. Honorary Mayor s Race Committee shall meet with and coordinate time line of events with Jr. Mayor s Race candidates. Candidate Rules and Guidelines 1. Candidates must be at least 5-17 years of age live and/or go to school within the Orangevale area. Candidates must complete and file an official candidate registration form with the Jr. Honorary Mayor s Race Committee. Candidate registration forms are available at the Orangevale Chamber of Commerce office located at 9267 Greenback Lane Ste B-91, Orangevale. 2. Candidates must be willing to attend various Chamber activities through the term of office. 3. Candidates must agree to positively promote the Chamber and community. Additionally, candidates must agree to refrain from negative comments or actions toward other candidates. 4. Term is from the first day of POW WOW DAYS to the day before POW WOW DAYS of the following year. 5. Registration will close at Noon on May 1st, 2015. 6. If the winner or winners default for any reason, the runner-up becomes Jr. Honorary Mayor. 7. Committee members, Board of Directors, staff and office volunteers will refrain from endorsing any specific candidate, but may work on behalf of any and all of the candidates. 8. The official title of the successful candidates will be Jr. Honorary Mayor. The Jr. Honorary Mayors serves at the direction of the current Honorary Mayor and committee. 9. The Current Chamber President will announce the winner of the Jr. Honorary Mayor s Race on Thursday evening at the opening ceremonies of POW WOW DAYS. 10. There will be one boy and one girl selected each year as a Jr. Honorary Mayor and they will each receive if allows based on sponsorship received along with half of proceeds raised from the Honorary Mayor s race a $250 scholarship grant for education. Privileges & Responsibilities 1. The Jr. Honorary Mayors will be presented with an official ceremonial medal/sash to wear at Chamber functions. The JR Honorary Mayors shall at all times identify himself and herself as the JR Honorary Mayor. 2. The Jr. Honorary Mayors are encouraged to attend all regular Network functions and Business mixers 3. The Jr. Honorary Mayors shall participate in community events suggested by the Board of Directors. 4. The Jr. Honorary Mayors may participate in any public event held for the community benefit. 5. Requests for the Jr. honorary Mayor s official participation shall be made through the current Honorary Mayor. Adopted January 22, 2009 Revised November 20, 2014

5 Jr. Honorary Mayor Photo Contest Entrants will be judged in three categories: Scenic, People and Business. Photos should include people enjoying an Orangevale experience, a creative photo of a local business or attraction, or the scenic beauty of the Orangevale area. All photos must be original and the property of the entrant. All entries must be of a print quality size (minimally 2500 1875 pixels or similar size). Around 2MB per image file or larger is a general guideline. Entrants are limited to submitting no more than 3 photos. Send us your favorites! Entrants will retain copyright in the photographs that they submit to the. All entrants grant the the right to publish and exhibit their image entries on www.orangevalechamber.com, OV Chamber Facebook pages, in print and other promotional media, including but not limited to any Chamber publication, the right to distribute photo entries to members of the media and member businesses for promotional purposes. Images will be credited as the Orangevale Chamber of Commerce.
