Dmirijiet 4.1 Id-dmirijiet ta persuna fil-ħatra ta Assistance and Rescue Officer jinkludu: (a) jirraporta direttament lil-leading Assistance and Rescue Officer; 2.3 On completion of eight (8) years satisfactory service an Assistance and Rescue Officer will be recommended for permanent appointment to the grade. 2.4 Assistance and Rescue Officers will be conditioned to a forty-six (46) hour week on a 24 hour shift basis over seven (7) days (Monday to Sunday) or any other roster as determined by the Head Civil Protection. Hours worked in excess of 46 hours will be paid at overtime rates (one and-a-half times), when time-off-in-lieu cannot be given. 2.5 Assistance and Rescue Officers will be considered for appointment to higher positions within the Department of Civil Protection provided they satisfy the established eligibility requirements for such higher positions. 2.6 Selected applicants will be medically examined to ascertain they are fit to carry out the full range of duties of this position. 2.7 The appointment is on a full-time basis and is subject to the rules and regulations governing from time to time the Malta Public Service in general, and the Department of Civil Protection in particular, and involves liability to transfer according to the exigencies of the Public Service. Salary pegged to the position 3.1 The salary attached to the position of Assistance and Rescue Officer is equivalent to Salary Scale 14 (which in the year 2014 is 13,282.02 per annum rising by annual increments of 316.83 up to a maximum of 15,183.00). 3.2 Assistance and Rescue Officers performing full-time sea-going duties will be entitled to receive the approved seagoing allowance of 559.05 per annum which is to be reduced on a pro-rata basis for all absences except for vacation leave. UNIVERSITY OF MALTA Post of Child Care Assistant Tajra Child Care Facility Due to an extension in the Child Care Facility provided by the University of Malta, applications are invited for the post of Child Care Assistant. The University of Malta provides child care services in two centres: It-Tajra located on campus and Lwien located at the Junior College. It also provides a Kids on Campus Summer School during the summer months. The successful applicant will work at It-Tajra located on the Campus of the Main University or at the Lwien located at the Junior College, Msida. Applicants must be in possession of the BTEC MCAST National Diploma in Child Care, or the ETC Care certificate or an equivalent accredited (level 4) qualification and a valid First Aid Certificate. Due preference will be give to applicants who have previous relevant experience working in a child care facility. The post carries an annual salary of 12,221 rising by annual increments of 226 up to a maximum of 13,803. On completion of five years service in the grade, the appointee will, on satisfactory performance, be entitled to move on to the next salary band with annual increments of 298 up to a maximum of 14,835. After a further period of five years, the appointee will on satisfactory performance be entitled to move on to the next band with annual increments of 317 up to a maximum of 15,818.
