On-Line Remote Sensing Systems Environmental Network Monitoring System The Environmental Network Monitoring System concept is used for the remote surveillance of radio activity (contamination and exposition). Environmental Network Monitoring System is based on 2 types of entities: the Detection Station (DS) and the Central Station (CS). These entities exchange information by means of various telecommunication means. There are no distance restrictions between these 2 entities. A single Detection Station can warn different Central Stations providing redundancy for critical infrastructures monitoring. When redundancy is less critical, a single Central Station can communicate with several Detection Stations for cost effective solution. This concept is designed for native scaling-up to accommodate small scale and local as well as nationwide - or even worldwide radiological monitoring networks.

On-Line Remote Sensing Systems Environmental Network Monitoring System PROBE For more than 10 years, there has been a specific probe for environmental water monitoring based on gamma spectrometry. This capability has been adapted for other type of measurement like dose rate in air measurement. Newly developed interface uses a very high performance dose rate probe model GDDS on the existing Environmental Network Monitoring System platform to perform on-line air dose rate monitoring. The GDDS instrument performs dose rate measurement in the air using two GM (Geiger Mueller) detectors. The measuring range is between 1E-09 to 1 Sv/h. The probe runs itself the calculation and conversion to provide the results in Sv/h. In order to optimize the measurement accuracy, the acquisition strategy is based on a sliding average. A watchdog mode is set to detect any abnormal changes of dose rate.

The information from these detectors are analyzed and displayed in units of picocuries per liter. The count times are user settable and calculations are automatically updated every 2 minutes, every hour and every day in NexBeta-ABG-9. The longer update times correspond with greater precision and increased sensitivity. Sensitivities in the daily updates each meet or exceed the DHS protective Action Guideline Levels for drinking water.
