Using the New Basecamp Basecamp is an online project management tool to help keep track of project discussions, files, and events. Note: After March 1, 2013 users of Basecamp will have to use the New Basecamp interface. Logging into Basecamp Visit basecamp.com and click on Log in to access Basecamp projects. Login using your St. Edward's username and password. Using the New Basecamp - 1

Classic Basecamp Vs. New Basecamp You will select New St. Edward's University to access your projects. After the Classic Basecamp projects have been moved over to the new Basecamp, people will still have the option to log in to Classic or new Basecamp if they go to their Launchpad at https://launchpad.37signals.com/ If you only want to log in to the new Basecamp and not see the choice of accounts, you can go straight to https://basecamp.com/2097735 to log in. New Basecamp Interface When you login to the New Basecamp. The interface has changed, though there are new features you will find useful. 1. There are various views you could toggle between to view your various projects. 2. By default the list of your projects will be displayed. Using the New Basecamp - 2

3. A Calendar is available to view due dates and tasks. 4. The Everything section will display everything from all your projects: discussions, open to-dos, all files, tex documents, and forwarded emails. 5. The Progress section will display what's been happening in your projects in chronological order. 6. The Everyone section will display everyone from recently active people to everyone included in the various companies, for example the St. Edward's ERP. 7. The Me section will display your latest activity across all projects and your open to-do's with the due dates next to each one listed. 8. You may use the Search window to jump to a project, person, label, or search for any keyword. 9. You may also Sign out once you are done working in Basecamp. 10. You may click on a project to view all the projects discussions, to-dos, and documents. Using the New Basecamp - 3

Working within your Project (ERP Initiative Overview) in the New Basecamp Within your project you will see a list of discussions, to-do lists, files, and text documents. Using the New Basecamp - 4

1. Discussions - Post a New Message You may click on the button to post a new message. Then you may type the subject of the message, type your message, attached files or drag and drop the messages there. You have three options to choose from, to whom the message is sent to: Email it to all the people in the project Choose who should get the email, then check off who will receive it, or select people from other groups, or loop-in someone who isn't on the project and share it by email only. Or, don't email anyone, and just post the message to Basecamp. Using the New Basecamp - 5

2. To-do Lists - Add a To-do List or just Add a To-do You may also click on the Add a to-do list button to create a to-do list and give the list a title, then save and start adding to-dos. Or, you may just add a to-do by clicking on the Add a to-do button and add a new to-do, then assign it to a group member, add a due date and then click Add this to-do. Note: To-do's are automatically added to the calendar for the project on the date that the to-do's are due. Using the New Basecamp - 6

3. Files - Upload Files You may also upload files to share with groups or individuals. You may drag and drop or click on the link to select files from your computer. Then, you may email this upload to people on the project, other projects, or loop-in someone who isn't on the project to share it by email only. Then you can click on Upload. 4. Labeling Files for Organization There is also the option to add a label to files to help you organize files to inside your projects, so you can find them faster. Just click on the label button and thentype to add a new label and click on Add label or I'm done. For example, you might label a file as a report, presentation, or spreadsheet. Once you added a label, you may also delete it by clicking on the red circle with the Using the New Basecamp - 7

minus sign. Browsing and Searching for Labels You can see all the labels in a project by clicking on the Files tab in the projects toolbar. That will show you all the files in your project, and the labels in use. If you would like to quickly jump to a label, type its name into the search box. It will come up as a jump-to option, just like a project or a person. Changing Labels on Multiple Files To change all your files with a specific lable, just jump to the label's page and click the drop-down arrow icon next to the label's name. Then, choose "Rename this label." You will get a confirmation to make sure you want to do that. Note: When changing labels, the change will only affect the files listed on the page. So if you rename a label inside a project, it will only rename the label for that project's files. If you rename a label on the Everything>Files page, it will rename the label for all the files across all your projects. Using the New Basecamp - 8

5. Text Documents - Create a Text Document To create a new text document, click on the Create a text document button. Then, add a title and add any notes or text to your text document. This will be shared with those included in the project. Note: The Classic Basecamp writeboards will transition into the New Basecamp, but comments on the old versions of the writeboard text do not transfer over. Using the New Basecamp - 9

Note: Before you Add this Event, you also have the option to send other people an email now and a reminder at 7am the day of the event. Using the New Basecamp - 10
