- Main Healthcare Projects - Manisha Hospital Relevant Data 100,000 m 2 of surface 450 beds Manisha Hospital Implementation of a PPP Plan in Manisha Pilot Hospital Manisha, Turkey The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey started a process of modernization of its basic hospital network with the assistance of private investment. First of all, a comprehensive study of the sphere of influence of the future hospital was undertaken, assessing supply and demand in the area. As a result, a Functional Study and an assessment of the needs were carried out, constituting the base for the later development of the Preliminary Design. The Preliminary Design defined in detail the characteristics of the general hospital of 450 beds, as well as the hospital and non-hospital equipment. The hospital, with a total surface of 100,000 m 2 distributed into 6 floors, was designed to provide the usual services for this kind of facilities (hospitalization area, operating rooms, intensive care unit, external consultations, administration office, toilets, etc). The project especially focused on the general lay-out of the hospital, developed according to the needs established by the Functional Study, on the design of the main characteristics of structures, closures, materials, finishes, installations, etc., as well as on the measurement of the different lots and on the assessment of costs. At the same time, a study was carried out in order to determinate the most suitable method to implement a PPP Plan (Public-Private) in Manisha Hospital within the framework of the current Turkish legislation. The services also included the writing of the Terms of Reference for project procurement, maintenance and utilization of the hospital, as well as the assessment of the profitability of the operation for both the Public Administration and the Concessionaire. Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital Relevant Data 2,535 m 2 of surface Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital Outpatient, medical services and administrative units of the Catalan Oncology Institute Badalona, Barcelona, Spain - Main Healthcare Projects - Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital in Badalona is a health care center that belongs to the Catalan Health Institute. It works as a general hospital for the more than 200,000 inhabitants of Badalona and Sant Adrià de Besòs, as well as the tertiary referral center for the almost 800,000 people that live in the North of Barcelona and Maresme. The public Company GISA awarded GPO the Detailed Design and Construction Supervision for the renovation of the 3 rd and 4 th floors of the Germans Tries i Pujol hospital, so as to house the Catalan Oncology Institute (ICO). Two additional actions were undertaken at the same time: the construction of two towers attached to the East and West sides of the building and the adaptation of the emergency evacuation plan for the 3 rd floor. The project s success was due to the constant contact maintained with the owner and the effective coordination with all the stakeholders: the hospital, ICO, CatSalut, GISA, the Firefighters and several management institutions. Moreover, the construction was executed without interrupting the hospital s daily operation. The total surface covered by the project was of 2,535 m 2. - Main Healthcare Projects - Public Nursing Home Catalan Foundation for Cerebral Paralysis Barcelona, Spain The Catalan Foundation for Cerebral Paralysis (FCPC) is a non-profit organization that helps people affected by cerebral paralysis and other disabilities. The social and health residence, promoted by the foundation placed in 22@ district of Barcelona, aims at helping these patients with special needs. GPO was awarded by the Catalan Foundation of Cerebral Paralysis with the detailed design, project management, construction supervision and health and safety coordination of a new center for people with cerebral paralysis in Barcelona. The building, whose preliminary design was done by Alfredo Arribas, has 3 floors with common areas such as a swimming pool, a day center, a dining room, etc., accessible to residents and visitors. It also has 4 floors dedicated to rooms and restrooms for residents. The project had to include all measures to ensure full accessibility and functionality. Also, due to the peculiarities of the development company, a non-profit organization that depends on donations and grants for funding, it was critical to control the budget. The final resolution was choosing individual contracting, a way to adjust final costs as much as possible. The total built-up area is around 950 m 2, including new and renovated areas, totally adapted to the new use and regulations concerning utilities. Vall d Hebrón Hospital Relevant Data 19 operating rooms 56 intensive care units 12 post-surgery rehabilitation units - Main Healthcare Projects - Vall d Hebrón Hospital New Surgical Block of Vall d Hebron Hospital in Barcelona Barcelona, Spain GPO was awarded by GISA with the construction supervision services and overall expansion coordination of the Surgical Center of the Vall d Hebron Hospital in Barcelona, one of the biggest public care centers of the city. The Project consisted of the addition of three floors on top of one of the hospital s existing buildings, which will house 19 operation rooms, 56 intensive care units, 12 post-surgery rehabilitation units, the improvement of internal communication, and the adaption of the hospital s facilities to the existing technological advances. GPO s mission included Construction Supervision and Project Management services: coordination of all of the consultants in the planning stages, time and cost control, management of changes, testing and start ups, as well as coordination with hospital managers. One of the main challenges was the construction of 3 floors on top of a building that was in use and was placed in a complicated surrounding as far as construction logistics is concerned, while maintaining the safety of the work and the hospital s activities simultaneously. This required great technical preparation and solutions that avoided the transfer of load to the existing building, apart from the constant coordination with the building s managers to plan and agree on each task of the work that could interfere with the hospital s activities. It also required the mastery of technical knowledge, specialized for hospital settings. Service Construction Supervision Project Management Client Gestió d Infraestructures, S.A.
