Welcome to this review guide for Configuration and Using ZyALERT This review guide will guide you through the steps necessary to configure ZyALERT, maintain users and alerts to be able to send email alerts with links to a ZyLAB web client. Conditions ZySCAN, ZyINDEX and ZyLAB Enterprise WebServer have been installed Enterprise webserver key and ZyALERT key are installed An index is present and ZyTIMERService is maintaining the index Full understanding of the Security module Logged-on user is Domain user and member of the Local Administrators group SMPT Mail protocol is active. For support visit the ZyLAB support website - http://support.zylab.com First you need to create a ZyLAB web client to generate HTML email messages. Go to ZyINDEX > Web Client. 1
Go to File > New, and create a new webclient. Enter a Long client name Enter a HTTP Alias (This alias will be used to access the web client via Internet Explorer) Enter an existing Client Email Address to be used as senders account for the email distribution. Click OK Select the 'Indexes' folder, and click on Select to add an existing index to the web client. Click OK. Your web client is ready to be used in combination with ZyALERT. 2
Go to ZyINDEX > Security. Import the logged on user to the ZyLAB User database Go to General > Users > Import Users. Select the Source (WinNT) Select your current domain (ZyLAB) Select the logged on user and click 'Import'. 3
Make the logged on user member of the ZyLAB Administrators group. Go to General > Groups > Available Groups. For the ZyLAB_Administrators group, select the icon "Select users to be members of this group". Select the logged on user. Click OK. Fill in the users email address. Go to General > Users > Available Users. For the logged on user, click 'Edit user field'. Enter the Email address to send the alert to. Click OK. ZyINDEX Web en Security configuration is ready to be used in combination with ZyALERT. 4
Open ZyALERT. 1 Click Options (Button, not Menu!). 2 Deselect 'Enable index-synchronization'. Options (via the Menu) will take you to the Interface Languages. The option 'Enable index-synchronization' triggers a Build action, at the moment the alert is executed based on the schedule. When ZyTIMER/ZyTIMERService is maintaining the indexes, enabling this option will cause conflicts! 1 Select the Webserver Integration tab. 2 In the Default Hostname field, enter your 'Computer name' (which is running the Internet Services Manager, containing the web client you just created in ZyINDEX > Web Client). 3 Click OK. 5
1 Click Users. 2 Click Add. 3 Enter your 'logged-on' user name. 4 Click on Select. 5 Select the logged-on user / local administrator from the ZyINDEX Security database users. 6 Click OK. 1 In the 'Default Web Client' field, enter your web client name. 2 Click OK to save this user. 3 Click Close to save the ZyALERT User database. 6
Click 'New Alert' to create the first alert. 1 Click Users to select the recently created user. 2 Select the user. 3 Click Select. 4 Click next to go to the next stage. 1 Click Indexes. 2 Click Add. 3 Select the same index as selected in ZyINDEX web. 4 Click OK. The index is now added to the ZyALERT database index list. 7
1 Select the index. 2 Click Select. 3 Click Next to go to the next stage. 1 Enter the query you want to execute in a certain interval. You can use all ZyFIND advanced search methods, like fields or concepts. 2 Click Next to go to the next stage. 1 Select only Email. 2 Click Email Distribution Settings. 8
1 Enable Result list. 2 Select HTML with links to ZyLAB Webserver. This means that you will be using SMTP as your mail protocol. 3 The host name and web client name are entered automatically based on the previously added variables. 4 Click OK to save the settings. 9
1 Click Advanced. 2 Leave all settings default. Remark: When you are using a Field query in the Query stage, you are not allowed to use Hit Density as a sort method of the result list. 3 Click OK. 1 Keep the Access Rights Private option disabled. This option can be used to deny users from changing their alert settings through the enterprise web interface. 2 Click Next. 10
1 Enter your frequency. In most cases a daily alert will be most appropriate. By default the start time and end time are set on a daily interval. 2 The start and end time limit your search query as a time frame. When you want to search all available documents in the index without any time frame, you have to put the end time in front of the start time. 3 Click Finish to Save the alert. The alert is now created. 1 Click on Start to launch the ZyALERT process. 2 Click Continue. 11
Click 'Continue, don't reschedule' to execute the ZyALERT Application. ZyALERT will now start monitoring your index. You can also run ZyALERT as a service. To run ZyALERT as a service, you have to install the ZyALERTService: Click Service Enter the Account name: domain name \ user name Enter Account Password Enter Temporary directory Select Normal as Process Priority Click OK to install the ZyALERT service You can start/stop the service in Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
