Formative and summative assessment opportunities support QIBT s diverse group of students in development of knowledge and understanding of discipline practices and systems. Assessment methods adopted at QIBT take a variety of forms appropriate to the learning outcomes. Assessments are criteria based which requires desired learning outcomes to be clearly specified and the assessment grade is a measure of the extent to which the learning outcomes have been achieved. Assessments may include individual or collaborative achievement or both. Assessment methods and desired criteria are clearly set out in the course documentation available to students at the commencement of each course. Methods take a variety of forms and include but are not exclusive to the following methods: Written exams Projects Portfolios Written assignments including essays, reports and case studies Presentations Debates Quizzes Tutorial activities Laboratory activities and reports Tutorial participation
