Electronic Data Interchange The Enterprise Technology Services Division (ETSD) provides comprehensive technical support services for applications using Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). ETSD has designed a standard EDI infrastructure that offers data translation services, connectivity to a commercial or government Value Added Network (VAN), and support for fully automated production EDI interfaces.
Electronic Data Interchange Application developers are relieved from the responsibility of understanding complex translation software, coordinating VAN services and monitoring EDI traffic. The EDI infrastructure uses both the IBM mainframe and central Unix computing platforms for data translation and communications to a VAN.
Electronic Data Interchange A separate testing environment is maintained and existing change management and problem management procedures are used. Technical support is provided for the setup, testing, implementation and production monitoring of an application's EDI interface. ETSD provides a single point of contact through the Customer Call Center for resolving questions and issues that may arise regarding EDI traffic with business partners.
Electronic Data Interchange Clients who contract for Mainframe Processing Services and Central Unix Computing Services are automatically eligible to take advantage of the basic EDI services provided by ETSD. The basic EDI services include the operation and maintenance of the mainframe translator software and associated technical support as outlined below.
Electronic Data Interchange Either in addition or as an alternative to the basic EDI service, other offerings are also available for purchase. Each additional optional service has separate associated costs. These additional offerings include access to VAN services and support for Vendor Outreach Programs.
Basic Services The following basic services are offered in the EDI service area: Maintenance and administration of the translation software Project management to include crossfunctional coordination between the application developers and ETSD Operations, Telecommunications, and Customer Service personnel Maintenance of the EDI infrastructure to include both a test and production environment Facilities necessary to house and archive EDI
Basic Services Monitoring and reconciliation of traffic between client and trading partners Set-up and testing of client-supplied EDI implementation conventions, application data formats, transaction mappings, trading partner profiles and validation tables according to the ETSD EDI Standards and Procedures Manual Implementation and maintenance of production EDI interfaces for participating applications as specified in the ETSD EDI Standards and Procedures Manual Management and resolution of any problem or questions reported through the Customer Call Center
Optional Services The following two optional services are offered in the EDI service area: VAN Services - ETSD offers access to VAN services for EDI-enabled applications. The contract vehicle necessary to obtain VAN services is maintained and administered by ETSD. Communications to and from the VAN are accomplished for the IBM mainframe and central Unix processor. Vendor Outreach Program Support - Administrative and technical support for client Vendor Outreach Programs are available.
