STR-600 Plate Dryer 1. What it s meant for? Device is meant for water damage drying on local wetted areas. The device suits best for different stone type structures, such as concrete, brick structures and others such kind. The device is used mainly for small / local water damaged areas drying such as commonly in bathrooms, or when a water pipe breakage has wetted smaller areas in kitchen etc. The common drying cases for STR-600 are water damaged areas sized from 1 to 10 sq.m. Also used in large amounts in big cases when the water damage has wetted critical room areas / structures, where the time those spaces are not operational can be life changing, for example hospitals, surgery rooms, electrical power plants, schools etc. Machines also can be used together with common air dryers as the devices can complete each other. In these cases normally the STR-600 machines are placed on most wetted concrete structures, and air dryers are handling the overall room space air humidity.

2. Working method Air-circulated plate drying was invented in Finland on 1990 s. Since then the machines have developed a lot. The STR-600 brings the drying method to a new age with most effective heating air-circulation method. The basics are that the STR-600 is placed on the water damaged concrete structure after the surface cover materials are demolished and the raw concrete is visible. A wet-air hose can be fitted to devices d. 50mm wet-air outlet. I many cases usage of wet-air hose is recommendable for getting the water removed from the structure immediately off the room space. If an air-dryer is placed on the same room space the wet-air hose can be irrelevant. The electricity plug is connected to power outlet and the machine is switched On. When the STR-600 is switched on the air fan and heater elements start working. The device takes air from the room space through an intake channel (1.) (see pictures below).

Inside the machine the air is directed on heat elements which warm the air giving it more capacity to gather moisture. At the same time the heater elements also direct heat downwards as a reflex heat for heating the water damaged structure and getting the water to vaporize on the structure surface. As the air is warmed inside the machine it is directed to outlet channels (2.) in the bottom part of the machine. Also in the middle bottom part of the machine there is an air fan (3.) which sucks the heated air effectively towards itself. On this route from the machine edges to middle the warm air sweeps the water damaged structures surface, and the water vaporized on the surface is absorbed to the air. A continuous air-circulating drying effect starts to dry out the structure immediately very effectively. The wet air is then guided to devices wet-air outlet (4.) which is an d.50mm pipe that can also be connected with a d. 50-55mm wet-air hose.

3. Other The STR-600 devices are included also with an automatic timing clock which warms and cools the structure surface in sequences. By heating and cooling in sequences the water vaporizes more easily on the structure surface, and the structure inside temperature does not rise too high. The factory timing for these sequences is 10 hours heating / 4 hours cooling. When cooling is on the fan continues normally, and only the heating elements are shut down. Also the signal light telling the heating is on is switched off. The device does also have an switch to bypass the timing clock. This is used normally only when a very thick structure is dried, for example a thick brick wall, and the structures inside temperature is wanted to raise as high as possible. In these cases the method is to get water to vaporize also from the outer side of the structure. If the timing clock bypass is used a red signal light switches automatically On to alert that timing bypass is on. The timing bypass should normally not be used in common floor etc. drying as the structure temperature can raise high to make the drying process slower. 4. Benefits of using the STR-600 - Fast drying processes. Drying processes take only a margin of time when compared to air-dryers. An average thickness of 8 to 10 cm concrete slab can be dried in only 5-10 days when with common methods it could take several weeks. - Hugely energy effective. A smaller are drying with air-dryers for example can use 1 to 4 kw per hour for several weeks. With for example 4 pcs of STR-600 units a 5 sq.m. damage area could be in most cases dried out in 10 days with energy consumption on average 2,4 kw per hour. In cases where the is a damp problem commonly around a bathroom floor drain, a single machine can handle the drying with in average 5-10 days with only 0,6 kw per hour energy consumption. (*** The thickness and hardness as well as water amount in the structure influence on the final drying results case by case). In bigger water damages the energy efficiency is not as high, but there the drying speed is normally most relevant, for example in hospitals and such critical cases. - Very silent working method. The drying process itself by its sound level does not usually disturb common living in the same apartment or apartments and other spaces surrounding the water damage area. - Safe to use. The method is based on effective air-circulation and heating directly on the dried surface. The machine does not use any hazardous radiation methods or other and also does not harm any piping or electrical cables inside the structure. - Easy to handle. The device is very light weighted and easy to carry and handle. The device can be used for drying floor structures as well as easily placed for drying wall and ceiling structures. For wall and ceiling placements the device has points to attach a telescope rod for easy attachment. The device is also built so that it can stand on its

own when placed on its side. This makes it easier to remove the machines on site before loading on a truck, and also can be used to help storing the machines. - Easy to find electricity. The machine itself uses approx. 0,6 kw/h of electricity, so it is easy to find a suitable power outlet for a device. The devices have also a built in power socket for making it easier to connect the machines in a row connecting the electricity for another device from the previous one. This way a huge amount of extension cords can be avoided.
