1. Do I need a domain name? Yes you need a domain name to Host a website. You can register a new domain with Vodafone or transfer an existing domain into Vodafone from your current provider. 2. How can I create a webpage? You may create your personal webpage using any editor suitable for Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) or you may create your pages using an application like Microsoft FrontPage, which permits a user with very little knowledge of HTML to create his/her own pages. Please note that Vodafone does not provide web design services. 3. What types of files may I upload? You may upload static and dynamic pages. You may store at least HTML files. For more information, please call 1399. 4. How many MB is the common size of a Website? The answer is a bit more complicated. A site is divided into static and dynamic. The static site consists only of files (text, photos, audio and video etc). Larger files are multimedia files e.g. images, songs, video. One bakery that wants a simple site to distribute its corporate identity, shops and products, has very small space requirements. An example of such a site consisting of 100 pages has space requirements that do not exceed 10MB, that is minimal in relation to the space that is offered. But if a customer (e.g. a record company) wants to offer to the site visitors the possibility to download large files (e.g. songs, video or large images) then the requirements change and the dimensioning should be twice the size of the estimated area of such files. If, for example the company wants to offer the possibility to download 1024 MP3 files of 1MB each, then a safe prediction for future use would be an area of 2x1024x1MB = 2GB. In the dynamic sites, except of the files (code, images, etc.), the customer will have a database, which also will have some limitations in its size but which has separate space from the space available in the server for uploading files. If we have a news site with content that is enriched on a daily basis, the database will increase rapidly. If you have a typical corporate customer who occasionally raises company news to his site, then the requirements are very small. The size depends on the database used (Access, MySQL, etc.). For example, a quite large MySQL database (eg 200.000 records) is some hundreds of MB (e.g. 300MB). On the other hand, a MySQL database with some tables and a normal number of records may not even exceed 5MB. FAQs: Website Page 2

5. What is a web site database? A database is a set of data that have been integrated into a structure (tables) to be used by different users and applications. For example, a site that presents information about restaurants, has all the information about the restaurants in a database and can be access it from there, every time someone requests the information. The service Vodafone Business Connect supports MySQL and MSSQL databases. The available space is included in the total area of the service, which is configured at any time depending on the needs. 6. What is SSL? Secure Sockets Layer, transmits private information through the Internet. It uses a cryptographic system that uses two keys to encrypt data, a Private key and Public key. An SSL certificate contains the following information: The domain name for which the certificate was issued. The owner of the certificate and the domain name. The physical location of the owner. The validity dates of the certificate. When you connect to a secure web server such as https://www.domain.com, the server authenticates itself to the web browser by presenting a digital certificate. The certificate is proof that an independent trusted third party has verified that the website belongs to the company it claims to belong to. A valid certificate gives customers confidence that they are sending personal information securely, and to the right place. 7. What is JavaServer Pages (JSP)? JSP technology offers a simple way to create dynamic web pages giving users more freedom through Java technology s Write Once, Run Anywhere capability. JSP technology separates content generation from presentation and takes advantage of reusable tags and objects, simplifying the maintenance of web applications. JSP technology provides users with two options: Scripting ability needed to create simple and interactive Web pages, or Scaling to support complex web sites that are fully integrated with enterprise class applications. 8. What is Announcer Pro? Announcer Pro makes it easy for you to create and send email marketing messages. With professional HTML templates and campaign management tools, Announcer Pro provides an option to communicate with your subscriber base. Announcer Pro allows you to incorporate various branding elements into the easy-to-use templates, such as company logos, images, and customized text - all elements that have proven to lead to increased read-rates. provides detailed distribution options that allow you to set specific times and lists for campaigns to be executed. 9. How can Announcer Pro help me? Increase the likelihood of new prospects visiting your site Increase customer loyalty and customer rapport with regular communication Quick and easy way to inform your customers about what is new in your business Promote your business in a fast and affordable way Announcer Pro is an easy way for you to keep your customers or friends up-to-date with what is new and exciting on your website. Once your contact list has been created, you will be able to send messages to your contacts provided that sender email address entered has been verified and is valid. Please be aware that Announcer is not to be used for spamming. 10. How many messages can I send out a month using Announcer Pro? Depending on the package that you purchase, you can send up to 100 messages per month. 11. When using Announcer Pro, what happens if I go over my limit sending messages? The number of messages sent out is capped according to your package. If you reach your allotted limit, you will be notified and will need to wait to the following month to send out more messages. 12. When using Announcer Pro, how many messages can I send out at one time? You can send out as many messages as you like at a time as long as it does not go over your monthly limit. 13. What is Advanced Template Manager? This application is intended for more advanced website designers who want to use highly customizable templates which can be edited by applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Flash MX and Macromedia Dreamweaver MX. It is recommended that beginners, or intermediate-level website designers who are not yet familiar with the required software, use EasySiteWizard instead. EasySiteWizard provides a more guided process for template- FAQs: Website Page 4

based website creation, which does not require the use of any additional software. The Advanced Template Manager is located under the "Site Builders" section in WebsiteOS. When you first launch the application, you will be provided with three viewing options: Designer Templates, Basic Templates, or Royalty-free Images. 14. When using Advanced Template Manager, what are designer templates? Designer Templates are highly customizable templates which generally require the website designer to own or have access to Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Flash MX and Dreamweaver MX. The number of template downloads per customer are limited by the interface (usually 3 per year). 15. When using Advanced Template Manager, what are basic templates? Basic Templates are more simplistic than designer templates, but are provided in a format which allows a higher level of customization. Again, these templates generally require the website designed to have access to Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Flash MX and Dreamweaver MX. There are no restrictions on the number of basic templates you can download. 16. When using Advanced Template Manager, what are royalty free images? Royalty-free Images are pictures which are free for use online; these pictures are the same ones available through EasySiteWizard, but can be downloaded directly to your website through the interface provided by the Advanced Template Manager. When using Advanced Template Manager, what software is required to be able to use the templates? The Designer Templates interface allows you to preview and download highly customizable templates which generally require the website designer to own or have access to Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Flash MX and Dreamweaver MX. 18. What is Site Promoter? Google AllTheWeb EntireWeb SplatSearch SurfGopher Subjex 19. When using Site Promoter, the search engine I want to submit my site to is not listed, how can I add a site of my choice? Most search engines have a link on their site to submit a site to their search spiders. Check the website for the search engine you wish to sunbmit to for such a link. 20. I'm using Site Promoter and want to create meta-tag data using the MetaWiz application but the application is not available, why? If the default index page already has meta tags (some web editing software creates this automatically) the MetaWiz will not be available. 21. What is EasySiteOptimizer? Vodafone Hosted Services EasySiteOptimizer is designed to help you make your site searchengine friendly, maximizing opportunities for your customers to find your site. The intelligent browser-based application offers a suite of tools to select keywords for your index page; analyze your site content and layout; and submit your pages to the most popular search engines. 22. Am I only allowed to have 15 keywords on my site? No, you can have as many keywords entered on to your site as you wish. The keyword list in Easy Site Optimizer only allows for a maximum of 15 keywords as this is the suggested number to have with a site. 23. Can I type in phrases, rather than just a single word? Phrase lookups are supported in the Keyword lookup manager. 24. There is an option to Save these keywords on my index page. If this is not selected where are the keywords saved to? If this option is not checked, the keywords will not be published to your index page or any other page on your website. If you leave this option unchecked, the "Save Keyword List" button will only save your keywords within the application. 25. When I go to save my keywords and I select Save these keywords on my index page, I get an error message saying that existing META tags are on the page. What should I do? You can use the html editor in the optimizer section to add the keywords to your index page Meta tags. 26. Does EasySiteOptimizer work with Flash-based content? No, Easy Site Optimizer does not work with dynamic content such as Flash-based components. 27. I have developed a webpage / my web designer has created one for me, and there are already existing META TAGS, can I still use Easy Site Optimizer? Will my existing META TAGS be overwritten? Yes, you will be able to still use Easy Site Optimizer for sites that have existing META tags. Easy Site Optimizer will not overwrite any existing META tags unless you make the changes yourself within Easy Site Optimizer. 28. My webpage is created with frames; will Easy Site Optimizer work on my site? Yes, frames that exist within your site will be spidered by the Easy Site Optimizer optimizer. 29. Can I only submit my domain once to search engines? No, Easy Site Optimizer allows you to submit your site to search engines once every two weeks. The Site Submission tool will become available for submissions two weeks from the previous date of submission. It is important to note that if your site is already listed by a search engine, you should not re-submit to the engine. Resubmitting an already listed site can cause your site to become delisted. Once listed, search engines will periodically re-spider your site to check for changes and updates. You do not need to resubmit your site for search engines to re-spider your page. 30. When I submit my site using Easy Site Optimizer, how will the search engines notify me that my submission(s) were accepted? Search engines do not notify you if your site has been approved for their listings. The only way to know if your site was listed is by searching for it periodically on the search engine you FAQs: Website Page 7

submitted to. Please note that due to the high volumes of submissions search engines receive, it can take as long as several weeks or months before your site is listed. 31. Can I use the Easy Site Optimizer as a HTML editor? It is not recommended that you use the application as an HTML editor for anything other than the suggested changes given by the Optimisation wizard. 32. How can I increase the overall rating of my site through the Easy Site Optimizer application? By using the notes given by the Site Optimizer tool, you can increase the rating of your pages. The next time you run an Optimisation scan, you should see an improvement in your score. 33. When using EasySiteWizard can I preview my site before publishing? Yes you can. ESW7P allows for the user to preview their site pages before publishing them on the web. 34. When using EasySiteWizard is there a limit to the number of pages I can have on my site? There is no limit to the number of pages that your web site can have given the amount of disk space available. The new menu editor in ESW7P allows the user to create as many pages and menu entries as they wish. There is also support for sub menu items within the main site menu. 35. When using EasySiteWizard can I upload my own images to use on my site? Yes, the user can upload their own custom images to be used on their site through the image gallery tool in ESW7P. They can also use an FTP client if they wish to upload multiple images at once to the specified directory in the application. ESW7P also supports over 40000 images from our free image library that the user can pick and choose from. 36. When using EasySiteWizard, Why can I not move certain elements of a template around freely? While most images and text boxes that are placed within the templates are moveable for the user, some elements have been anchored in place to keep the design of the template together. 37. Why am I unable to edit the HTML in EasysiteWizard 7 Professional? Currently there is no feature available in EasySiteWizard 7 Professional that allows HTML editing. It is strictly an intuitive website editor that allows the ease and comfort of designing a website without the knowledge of HTML. FAQs: Website Page 9
