February Newsletter WELCOME Welcome back to our new school term. We hope you have all had an enjoyable Christmas and Winter break. A very warm welcome to all our new families. We hope and believe you will have a very happy and beneficial time here. Our children are getting settled and we want to thank you for your support in making this as easy a process as possible for the children. We aim to support the children in their growing confidence and independence in the early days. Staff News Housekeeping When a nominated person is picking up your child Please remember to inform the office when you drop off your child. Going on holiday? Please make sure you email or call the office with the dates your child will be away. Close the door behind you Congratulations to Munira Lunat who won our employee of the year 2017. Coffee Mornings/Parents Evenings It s always a pleasure to see many of our parents come in for coffee morning and parents evening it s a time to catch up on what the children are doing and opportunity for parents/carers to ask questions and get to know the teachers better; and keep up to date with their child s development. If you have not attended any of our coffee mornings or parents, we would urge you to make time to attend. Class Room News We like to let parents know the type of activities their children will be doing this term. Activities are related to the theme of the month And early years foundation supporting the children to develop in The seven areas of learning. We like to let parents know the type The activities and games prepared are both child and adult led. Below are the some of the activities and adult led. the children will be taking part in this term. Room News Petals Room (0-2 years) We have a variety of sensory play for babies to explore and experiment many different materials and textures such as paint, pasta, glitter, sand with glitter, dry or damp sand, hand and feet painting, playdough, cotton wool, sequin, sticking activities, gloop, wet play dough, leaf printing, sensory bottles, sensory books and toys. The babies will learn about Understanding the world through play and activities such as exploring sea animals in water tray, farm animals on pretend grass, learn animal names, sounds and explore multicultural small world people with blocks; trips to the park to see the ducks, trees and flowers. In circle time we learn about the alphabet and numbers through rhymes, singing nursery rhymes and learning actions to rhymes, dancing, stretches and learning rhymes in different languages. (Parents should feel free to share any cultural rhymes in different languages). Tulips Room (2-3 years old) During last term, the children were introduced to Autumn the beginning of winter time by exploring different changes which happen such as getting dark earlier, the different clothes to wear to keep ourselves warm (coat, hat, scarf and boots), leaves falling from the tree etc. to enhance their learning during circle time they were asked to identify the appropriate clothing to wear. Additionally during outdoor play they were able to explore leaves falling down and had great fun painting them and mixing colours using brown and orange. This term the children will focus on winter animals, songs relating to winter, discussing different types of weather and a lot of outdoor activities. We hope there will be snow to extend the children s learning of weather. Notice Board New Website coming soon We will be launching a new website shortly. All parents will be fully informed as we plan to implement systems to make processes easier for parents. Pay online coming soon For those parents who would like to pay online, we will be setting up this feature as part of our new website. We will let Parent s know once this feature is available. Tapestry- Online Children s Journal We are moving away from paper journal to online journal. In time parents will be able to log online and view their child s journal. More updates to follow.

Sunflowers Room During the last term the children experimented a lot with colours. We focused more on winter/farm animals, colours/diwali and Christmas. The learning in all its form were to support the children s independence and help them to explore their feelings and that of others. This term, we have welcomed new children to the room, the preschoolers. Our focus this term is on carnival, valentine s day, World Book Day, Spring and Mother s Day, Healthy eating, plants bugs and insects. Music Child Development Feedback We have received feedback from parents and we would like to hear more from you. If you do have some please email us at : info@risingstarsnurseries.co.uk A Lucy Sparkles friend visit our nursery weekly. This is a highlight for or children as they engage in the music session and we see them come out of their shell to explore a variety of musical instruments.
