Overview Perceptive Interact for Microsoft Office adds the version control, folder, and search features of the Perceptive Content document management system to Microsoft Office. If you do not have the full Perceptive Content client installed on your computer, you need to determine the server name, and port number of the Perceptive Content Server to which Interact for Microsoft Office is connecting. You may be required to restart your computer following installation. Download Interact for Office 1. Go to the Perceptive Software website at www.perceptivesoftware.com, click Customer Portal, enter your user name and password, and then click Downloads. 2. In the Product Downloads page, download the product installer to a temporary directory on your computer. 3. Review the product readme. 4. Unzip the installer if applicable. Run the Perceptive Interact for Office installation wizard 1. Save any Microsoft Office documents you are working on and close Office. 2. Double-click the EXE file you just downloaded. 3. In the Welcome to the Installation Wizard for Perceptive Interact for Microsoft Office page, click Next. 4. On the License Agreement page, review the terms in the License Agreement, scroll to the end of the agreement, click I accept the terms in the license agreement, and then click Next. 5. If the Default Connection Profile page appears, enter the appropriate values in the Profile Name, Server Name, and Port Number boxes, and then click Next. 6. In the Destination Folder page, do one of the following actions: If your computer is running Perceptive Content Client, click Next. If your computer is not running Perceptive Content Client, and you need to change the installation path, click Change, browse to and select the installation folder you want, click OK, and then click Next. 7. In the Ready to Install the Program page, click Install. 8. Optional. In the Installation Wizard Completed page, if you want to run Interact for Microsoft Office immediately, select the Launch Perceptive Interact for Microsoft Office check box. 9. Optional. If the Show the Windows Installer log check box appears, you can select the check box to view the log file. 10. Click Finish. Disable single sign on By default, if you use Interact for Microsoft Office as well as Perceptive Content Desktop Client, when you log into one application (Interact or Perceptive Content Desktop Client), you are not required to enter a user name or password when you initiate a connection to the other program if the single sign-on option is enabled. If you want to be prompted separately to log in to each program, perform one or more of the procedures below. Disable single sign on for all users who connect to an Perceptive Content Server By default, Interact automatically logs Perceptive Content Client users into Perceptive Content when they connect to Perceptive Content Server. To require a separate, additional login for all Interact for Microsoft Office users who have already connected as Perceptive Content Client users, make the changes described in the following steps. 1. Use a text editing program to make the following changes on the Perceptive Content Server computer. 2. In the inserver\etc\ folder, open the inow.ini file. 3. In the [Logon Control] section, change the single sign on setting as follows: logon.singlesignon.enable=false 4. Save and close the inow.ini file. Page 5 of 8
Disable single sign on for a single Perceptive Content Client user By default, Interact automatically logs Perceptive Content Client users into Perceptive Content when they connect to Perceptive Content Server. To require a separate, additional login for a single Interact user who has already connected as Perceptive Content Client user, make the changes described in the following steps. 1. Use a text editing program to make the following changes on the Perceptive Content client computer. 2. Open the Documents and Settings\<client user name>\application Data\ImageNow folder, where <client user name> is a placeholder for your Windows user name. 3. In that folder, open the imagenow.ini file. 4. In the [General] section, change the single sign on setting as follows: logon.singlesignon.enable=false 5. Save and then close the imagenow.ini file. Disable single sign on for an Perceptive Interact for Microsoft Office client By default, Perceptive Interact for Microsoft Office users can open and use Perceptive Content Client after they connect to Perceptive Content Server via Perceptive Interact. To require a separate, additional login for a single Interact user before that user can access Perceptive Content Client, make the changes described in the following steps. 1. Use a text editing program to make the following changes on the Microsoft Interact client. 2. Open the Documents and Settings\<client user name>\application Data\Interact folder, where <client user name> is a placeholder for your Windows user name. 3. In that folder, open the Interact.ini file. 4. In the [Logon Settings] section, change the single sign on setting as follows: logon.singlesignon.enable=false 5. Save and close the Interact.ini file. Start Perceptive Interact for Microsoft Office You can start Perceptive Interact for Microsoft Office in the following ways. If you selected the Launch Perceptive Interact for Microsoft Office check box on the final page of the installation wizard, the Interact console appears on your desktop. The next time you open Microsoft Office, the Interact control appears alongside other toolbars or Ribbon tabs. To connect to Interact, click the Connect Search button. button. To display the console, click the Right-click the Perceptive Content System Tray icon and select Show Interact Console. Get Help Display the Interact console, as explained in the previous section, and then, on the Help menu, click Interact Help. Page 7 of 8
