Student note: I was disappointed about the inability to gain new clients at this location. I gained hours completing intakes when the administrative assistant was out of the office, and continuing to see my client that came with me from the CCAS. This organization is a good organization, and there was wonderful opportunities for growth with respect to presentations and connecting with other departments within the organization. However, I sensed that the administrative assistant for the counseling department was annoyed about having practicum students on site, and I believe that she was hesitant to provide clients for the practicum students. (She was the one who was doing the intakes and assigning clients to counselors). There is also a grant that limited the assignment of some of the intakes. I was not assigned a new client throughout the practicum, and then toward the last four weeks, I would not be assigned a client due to continuity of care once I disclosed that I had accepted an internship opportunity at another location.
