EUROPASS CERTIFICATE SUPPLEMENT TITLE OF THE DIPLOMA Técnico en Estética y Belleza TRANSLATED TITLE OF THE DIPLOMA (EN) (1) Technician in Beauty Therapy -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (1) This translation has no legal status DIPLOMA DESCRIPTION The holder of this diploma will have acquired the general competence with regard to: Applying personal beauty techniques and marketing aesthetic services, cosmetics and perfumes, complying with quality the procedures and the requirements regarding labour risk prevention and environmental preservation as set in the current regulations. Within this framework, the PROFESSIONAL MODULES and their respective LEARNING OUTCOMES acquired by the holder are listed below. "Face and Body Skincare Techniques" Identifies the skin type, applying analysis techniques and recording the collected data. Selects the most appropriate hygiene technique, as well as the required cosmetics, equipment and tools, assessing the client's skin needs, characteristics and conditions. Carries out the technical operations for make-up removing and mechanical and chemical exfoliation, following the guidelines and use patterns for cosmetics and specific equipment. Applies specific aesthetic massage movements, adapting the parameters to the characteristics of each area and the expected results. Carries out face and body skincare techniques integrating cosmetics as well as manual and technical means. Assesses the results obtained, advising clients on face and body skincare habits as well as on the most appropriate cosmetics and their use guidelines. "Make-up" Analyses the face morphology, proposing an image change by means of visagism techniques. Selects a range of make-up colours, carrying out cosmetic, colour and lighting tests on sketches and models. Proposes and performs changes in eyebrows and in eyelashes, applying hair removal, tinting and perming techniques and applying false eyelashes. Prepares the workspace, the cosmetics and the tools, justifying the procedure followed. Performs customised make up procedures for different social events, reasoning the process and the sequence to be followed. Advises the client on cosmetic and make up techniques, taking into account the parameters by which the quality of the service is defined. "Mechanical Hair Removal and Hair Lightening" Prepares the workspace, the cosmetics and the tools, justifying the process, and applying the established regulations on maintenance and hygiene for hair removal equipment. Carries out aesthetic analyses, applying the established procedures for hair removal and hair lightening processes. Selects hair removal and hair lightening procedures, relating the properties of each technique to the client's needs. Performs mechanical hair removal techniques, selecting the procedure. Performs hair lightening techniques, using the appropriate products. Analyses the parameters which define the quality in hair removal and hair lightening processes, monitoring the points to be taken into account when assessing the results. "Hand and Foot Treatments" Determines the manicure and pedicure processes, observing the hand and foot morphology and relating them to the client's requirements. Page 1of 5

Prepares the workspaces, the equipment, the cosmetics and the tools, adapting them to manicure and pedicure aesthetic techniques. Performs manicure and pedicure techniques applying health and safety regulations. Prepares specific hand, foot and nail treatments, integrating new techniques in the process. Carries out nail art combining techniques and cosmetics. "Nail Enhancement Techniques" Selects the process of nail enhancement creation, relating it to nail conditions and the finger morphology. Prepares the workspace with the appropriate safety and hygiene conditions, describing the installations, the materials, the equipment and the cosmetics being used. Applies nail enhancements following the procedure and customising the technique. Performs nail art on enhancements, developing different techniques. Looks after the nail enhancements, repairing them through filling and renovation techniques. Analyses the quality of the process, applying the procedures set by the company. "Aesthetic Analysis" Characterises the anatomy and physiology of the different skin types and their appendages, relating them to their functions. Identifies basic injuries and alterations of the skin and of its appendages, describing their characteristics and their aesthetic impact. Identifies the specific analysis appliances, relating the scientific basis to the indications and using instructions in safe and hygienic conditions. Carries out skin and appendage analysis, interpreting set procedures. Recognises and uses the appliances used for beauty services, relating the scientific basis with use technical requirements and the resulting effects. Recognizes the importance of a professional attitude in the development of his/her activity, relating it to the respect for professional ethics rules. "Beauty Room Duties" Arranges the structure of a beauty room set up in the classroom, describing workspaces, behaviour rules and customer care procedures. Carries out activities arising from marketing actions, integrating the required operations and technical means. Performs face and body moisturising, sequencing the application of aesthetic means: cosmetics, tools and massage. Coordinates aesthetic services, sequencing and applying the established procedures. Assesses and values the results of aesthetic services, proposing corrective measures. "Body Image and Healthy Habits" Characterises the body image, identifying its structure, its morphology and its proportions. Characterises the body systems, describing their structure, its working and its alterations related to the personal image. Identifies diet and nourishment patterns, analysing their impact on the body image and on the cutaneous organ. Fosters healthy lifestyles, relating them with personal image processes. Selects hygiene and disinfection methods, relating them to the risk of material infection and infestation Determines safety habits to prevent professional illnesses, identifying the associated risks and the preventive measures. Beauty Therapy Cosmetology Determines the cosmetics composition, applying technical and health regulations. Identifies the equipment, the laboratory material and the basic operations required to prepare cosmetics, recognising the physicochemical nature of the resulting products. Classifies cosmetic products according to their presentation, relating them to their degree of penetration into the skin. Selects the appropriate hygiene cosmetics for each skin type, identifying their composition, their characteristics and their action. Selects the appropriate cosmetics for skin moisturising, maintenance and preservation, according to the different skin types, relating their active ingredients to their mechanism of action. Selects appropriate decorative cosmetics for each skin type, identifying their composition, function and application area. Page 2of 5

Selects cosmetics for the stratum corneum of the skin according to the different skin types, relating their composition with their presentation and their effects. Applies the appropriate guidelines for cosmetic storage, preservation and handling, identifying optimal using conditions and preventing adverse reactions that may arise. Natural Perfumes and Cosmetics Characterises perfumery products, analysing their structure and providing advice when choosing. Identifies aromatherapy products, analysing their cosmetic properties. Recognises different natural cosmetics and supplementary products, stating their application for different basic beauty treatments. Prepares perfumes and cosmetics, using natural raw materials. Distinguishes different types of natural cosmetics businesses, linking them with job creation possibilities. "Marketing and Sales in Personal Image" Identifies the products and the services in personal image companies, applying marketing techniques. Determines the clients' needs, analysing the purchase criteria of the different products and the personal image services. Establishes customer care guidelines, using communication techniques and tools. Uses promotion and advertising techniques, justifying the selection of the used tools. Applies promotional merchandising techniques, using specific tools and adapting them to the company's image. Carries out sales demonstrations of personal image services and products, defining the stages and using specific techniques. Deals with complaints and claims, applying conflict resolution procedures. "Professional Training and Guidance" Selects job opportunities, identifying the different labour integration possibilities, and the alternatives of lifelong learning. Applies teamwork strategies, assessing their effectiveness and efficiency on the achievement of the company s goals. Exercises the rights and complies with the duties derived from labour relationships, recognising them in the different job contracts. Determines the protective action of the Spanish Health Service in view of the different covered eventualities, identifying the different types of assistance. Assesses risks derived from his/her activity, analysing job conditions and the risk factors present in his/her labour setting. Participates in the development of risk prevention plans for a small enterprise, identifying the responsibilities of all agents involved. Applies protection and prevention measures, analysing risk situations in the labour setting of the Technician in Beauty Therapy. "Business and Entrepreneurial Initiative" Recognizes the skills related to the entrepreneurial initiative, analyzing the requirements derived from the different job positions and business activities. Defines the opportunity of creating a small enterprise, assessing the impact on the sphere of action and incorporating ethic values. Carries out the activities for the setting-up and the implementation of a company, choosing the legal structure and identifying the associated legal obligations. Carries out the basic administrative and financial management activities of an SME, identifying the main accounting and tax obligations and filling in documentation. On the Job Training" Identifies the structure and the organization of a company relating both to the different types of services delivered. Applies ethical and work habits in the development of his/her professional activity, according to the job characteristics and the procedures established by the company. Carries out operations related to commercial activities, applying the procedures set by the company Provides advice and sales products and services related to his/her job position, developing marketing techniques. Carries out decorative techniques for face make up and nail enamelling, as well as for nail enhancement placement, following standardised working procedures. Carries out hygiene, maintenance and moisturising treatments for face, body, hands and feet, relating the established sequence to the clients' characteristics. Carries out body hair removal or lightening, using mechanical procedures and/or chemical products, adapted to the user analysis. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE DIPLOMA The technician in Beauty Therapy works in small and medium companies directly linked to personal image, especially in service sector businesses of hairdressing and beauty, and generally in businesses related to retailing personal image products and cosmetics. Besides, he/she performs tasks such as: social make up, mechanical hair removal, basic hygiene treatments, body and face moisturising, hand and foot beauty, perfume and natural cosmetic advising, and marketing of beauty products and services, while offering customer care to the company's clients. He/she could also become a self-employed professional, organising his/her own company. The most relevant occupations or jobs are the following: Beauty technician at beauty salons. Make-up artist. Nail enhancement technician. Hair Removal Technician. Manicure and pedicure technician. Receptionist at beauty companies. Equipment, cosmetics and beauty techniques demonstrator. Commercial agent at beauty sector companies. Adviser/seller at perfume and cosmetic stores. AWARD, ACCREDITATION AND LEVEL OF THE DIPLOMA Name of the body awarding the diploma on behalf of the King of Spain: Spanish Ministry of Education or the different Autonomous Communities according to their areas of competence. The title has academic and professional validity throughout Spain. Official duration of the education/ training leading to the diploma: 2000 hours Level of the diploma (national or international): NATIONAL: Post-Compulsory Secondary Education INTERNATIONAL: - Level 3 of the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED3) - Level of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF ). Entry requirements: Holding the Certificate in Compulsory Secondary Education or holding the corresponding access test. Access to next level of education/training: This diploma may provide access to Higher Technical Cycles provided that an entrance exam is passed. Legal basis: Basic regulation according to which the diploma is established: Minimum teaching requirements established by the State: Royal Decree 256/2011, of 28 February, according to which the diploma of Technician in Beauty Therapy and its corresponding minimum teaching requirements are established.
