We look forward to learning more about you and working with you this summer. The leadership training program is divided into three components, when applying please choose the appropriate program. Leader In Training (LIT) LIT s learn the basics of leadership while still being able to enjoy a variety of specialty areas such as swim, archer, etc. LIT is a 3 week commitment once per summer for youth entering grades 7 th and 8 th. Counselor In Training (CIT) The CIT program takes the leadership experience to the next level. CIT s learn about youth development, facilitation skills and work with camper groups and program specialists. CIT is a 6 week commitment, the first being mandatory for youth entering grades 9 th or 10 th. Cadet Cadets are volunteer leaders who are held to the same standards and are trained the same as our camp staff. Cadet is an 8 week commitment with mandatory pre camp training sessions. Cadets must be entering grade 10 or will be 16 years of age prior to the next camp season. By design our leadership development programs are comprehensive and competitive, requiring commitment, endurance, willingness to learn, willingness to help others, the ability to accept direction and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Please note that by participating you could gain meaningful skills, foster new friendships and potential job opportunities. However, program progression and employment opportunities are based on the performance of each LIT, CIT or Cadet. LIT Applicants LIT is a 3 week program commitment that is offered 3 times during the course of the summer. Campers are only allowed to select one LIT session per summer. Camp Wiggi Leadership Program IMPORTANT INFORMATION Upon acceptance further paperwork will be required. This varies depending on the program you are applying to. This information will be part of a confirmation packet. Camp Wiggi is a drug free environment. Consumption of alcoholic beverages, drugs or smoking / chewing tobacco is strictly prohibited. Any LIT, CIT or Cadet found involved in these activities will be dismissed immediately. LIT, CIT and Cadet programs are a serious commitment! All participants are expected to be at camp on their chosen weeks or sessions, on time and ready to participate. Completion of this application does not equal acceptance to the program. Your application will be reviewed by the Youth Development Director and / or the Camp Director and if chosen you will invited for an interview. Only after the interview will an applicant know their acceptance status. While it is the intent of the program to build participant success, program progression or employment opportunities are based on the performance of each LIT, CIT or Cadet. Participants are evaluated throughout the program as part of the learning process and by the end of their session or season they will be informed as to their status for progression. Camp Wiggi reserves the right to dismiss an LIT, CIT or Cadet participant if their behavior or performance poses a risk to themselves, others or the reputation of the YMCA or Camp Wiggi. Being involved in Camp Wiggi is an obligation. There is a strong responsibility to each child and as an LIT, CIT or Cadet you are expected to live up to the expectations of the program which are as follows: Responsibility for your own actions as well as responsibility for those in your group. To present yourself as a good role model for children and for each other.
