1. Overview There are a few steps involved in moving StockManager to another PC: 1) Perform one final End of Day on old PC 2) Backup the StockManager database 3) Install StockManager on the new PC 4) Move the database from the old PC to the new one 5) Update the terminals to point to the new StockManager PC 6) (if required) Update the terminals to the latest version 7) Register the new StockManager It is most important to create a copy/backup of the StockManager database prior to doing the transition to ensure data is not lost. 2. Run End of Day Process in StockManager Refer to the StockManager user guide on how to run an End of Day on StockManager. This extracts any remaining data on the terminals over to the StockManager database. 3. Creating a Backup/Copy of StockManager Database On the OLD machine, go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\inpos Stock Manager\data and take a copy of the files in this directory. At a minimum, you should see: INPOS_STOCKMANAGER.FDB TERMINALJNLS.FDB Save a copy of these files into a separate temporary directory, as a backup. Flexischools 23 December, 2013 Page 2 of 12
4. Installing StockManager on New PC 1) Download Firebird version 2 from: http://www.flexischools.com.au/fm/downloads/inpos/firebird-2.0.1.12855-1- Win32.exe 2) Run the installer and accept the default installation options 3) Download the latest StockManager installer from: 4) www.flexischools.com.au/fm/downloads/inpos/stockmanager_setup.exe onto the new PC. 5) Run the installer and accept the default installation options. 6) Run StockManager once. When prompted, click Create Database. 7) When prompted to Create Journal Database, click Create Database 8) When StockManager loads to the login screen, leave the username as ADMIN and the password blank, click login Flexischools 23 December, 2013 Page 3 of 12
9) Close StockManager 5. Moving the StockManager Database to New PC 1) Copy the database files from the OLD machine: INPOS_STOCKMANAGER.FDB TERMINALJNLS.FDB To the same directory on the NEW machine. 2) Re-run StockManager on the NEW machine. This time, click RESET LOCATION, then CREATE DATABASE. Once logged in, you should see all your old item data, screens and sales data in StockManager. 6. Upgrading the Terminals Now that you have installed a new version of StockManager, it is likely you will need to upgrade the terminals to the new version of InPOS Terminal. Download the latest Terminal installer from: www.flexischools.com.au/fm/downloads/inpos/terminal_setup.exe Flexischools 23 December, 2013 Page 4 of 12
Option 1: If you have an existing terminal you are upgrading On each terminal 1) run the Terminal_Setup, then 2) open the InPOS terminal once, which will upgrade the terminal for you Option 2: If you are also moving the Terminal program to new machines Perform an installation of the terminal software and registration, as below 3) run the Terminal_Setup 4) run C:\Program Files (x86)\inpos Terminal\inPOSTerminalSetup.exe 5) Click Create database 6) Click Create Database again Flexischools 23 December, 2013 Page 5 of 12
7) Enter in a new unique terminal ID and Name (note, it can t be the same as the old terminal) 8) Close Inpos Terminal Setup no backup required 9) Register the software (below) 10) In Stock Manager, send the terminal settings to the new terminal before you use it the first time. 7. Registering StockManager On the NEW machine, open StockManager. Go to System Setup tab: Then System Setup button: Then Register Application Flexischools 23 December, 2013 Page 7 of 12
Uncheck Stock Control (unless you specifically have purchased Stock Control). Press Copy to Clipboard Now open your email program and write an email to pos.support@flexischools.com.au. Do a Paste in your email program to paste the registration codes Flexischools 23 December, 2013 Page 8 of 12

2) Click Edit Registration Details 3) Click yes I have the code and enter in your organisation details - Tables : uncheck - Accounts : Note, that if you have paid for and use Flexischools cards, check accounts, otherwise, uncheck 4) Click Copy to Clipboard 5) Now open your email program and write an email to pos.support@flexischools.com.au.
