1. Introduction ebackup is a utility designed to secure data on your Pocket PC. Use ebackup to perform a backup or restoration of data on your Pocket PC and restore your data to RAM at any time. With ebackup, you can either select specific files to backup (such as voice recorder), or backup all the program files in RAM. Similarly, ebackup allows you to specify which types of files you wish to restore. To run ebackup, simply tap the Start icon on the left-top corner of the Pocket PC screen. Figure 2 Main Interface 2. Function descriptions Figure 1 Startup Page When the first screen displays, select the appropriate option to either backup or restore your data (see figure 2). When you have selected an operation, tap Next to continue to the follwing step. Should you wish to exit the application, simply tap OK on to close ebackup. 2 of 7

2.1 Backup function When you select Backup, the following screen displays: it and displays its content and details on your Pocket PC screen. Once you have selected your storage media, tap Next to continue or tap Back if you wish to return to the previous screen (figure 2). Figure 3 Select backup storage card Figure 4 Select items to backup ebackup allows you to secure data and programs using various types of storage media; ebackup supports MMC, SD, CF Card or Flash ROM (depending on your device). When you insert your storage media, ebackup automatically recognizes In the next step, you can select which data you wish to backup. You can select items such as Calendar, Task, Inbox, Contact in PIM individually, or choose to backup all PIM information by ticking the check box in front of PIM. You can also can select different files to backup, including Channel, Notes, Voice Recorder, User application. If 3 of 7

you tick the Backup all data on your device check box, all the check boxes will be selected automatically and you will be able to backup the whole database. Once you have selected the data you want to backup, tap Next to continue or tap Back to return to the previous screen (figure 3). Back to return to the previous step and repeat the operation. When you are ready to begin the backup, tap Backup. A warning message box will pop up to remind you to close all other programs and not to remove the storage card during the process. If you wish to add or remove files to be included to your backup, tap Tap Yes to continue or No to cancel. A progress bar shows the status of the backup and indicates 100% when backup has completed (see figure 7). 4 of 7

2.2 Restore function To restore your data, select Restore in the emenu startup screen and tap Next to proceed. You can select items such as Calendar, Task, Notes, or Contacts. 5 of 7

Once you have selected the data you want to restore, tap Next to continue or tap Back to return to the previous screen. If you wish to add or remove data to be restored, tap Back to return to the previous step and repeat the operation. When you are ready to begin restoring, tap Restore. A warning message box will pop up to remind you to close all other programs and not to remove the storage card during the process. Figure 9 Restore data When you select data, the items name and size will display, as well as the total size of your restore data (figure 9). Figure 10 Warning message box A progress bar shows the status of the operation and indicates 100% when restore has completed (see figure 11). Tap Yes to continue or No to cancel. 6 of 7

When the restore process is completed, a message box will pop up (Figure 11). To retrieve your data, you need to reset your Pocket PC. Tap OK to close the box and reset your Pocket PC. Figure 11 Restore complete 7 of 7
