2 2 1. CSYMA Membership Tiers CSYMA has three tiers of membership: 1. CSYMA Teachers Evangelisation Network (TEN). Schools- CEO s members of the network including the Four- Phase Model of Teacher Formation. 2. CSYMA Youth Ministry. Schools- CEO s implementing the Four- Phase Youth Ministry Model and are members of CSYMA TEN. 3. Ministries and Organisations organisations such as retreat teams and religious bodies that cooperate with the vision of CSYMA. 2. CSYMA Benefits and Support to a Catholic School! The major benefits of CSYMA include: a practical follow- up strategy to WYD experiences; a network that is expanding Australia wide; an enhanced focus on evangelisation and mission for Catholic schools; staff and student formation in the four phase method; gathering with like- minded colleagues and enhancing whole school renewal. CSYMA TEN Membership provides: a) Formation of staff including Teacher Renewal Porta Fidei program conducted around the Country; b) TEN Journal produced twice yearly; c) Regular monthly e- newsletters and up- dates; d) National Bi- Annual Staff Conferences; e) A network of like- minded colleagues throughout Australia; f) Up- to- date information on opportunities for formation in the broader Church; and, g) Opportunities for being a staff leader in CSYMA TEN.
3 CSYMA Youth Ministry Membership for schools and CEOs would consist of implementation of CSYMA Youth Ministry programs (normally over a 3 year period) in addition to TEN Membership and includes: 2.1 Provide resources for Introducing and Growing Youth Ministry in Schools. These resources include the development of key focus areas such as: retreats and youth ministry experiences; youth ministry courses in the RE curriculum; youth ministry team development; family retreats and staff PD. It also includes the CSYMA school based process for implementation and development of roles. 2.2 Provide Staff Training This Staff Training would take place in the form of staff training days conducted over each of the three years for implementation of the CSYMA methodology: Year 1 Introduction to the 4 Phase Model Year 2 Growing Youth Ministry school wide programs. Year 3 Review and retreat experience. 2.3 Provide Senior Student Team Formation programs from Year 2 when such teams develop. This would occur annually (from Year 2) and would include a one day or afternoon training experience completed within the school or for a number of schools that have teams in a nearby location. 2.4 Staff and Student Conferences. Participating schools are invited to attend CSYMA national staff conferences held bi- annually. This provides opportunities for staff to receive formation in evangelisation of Catholic Schools. Regional Student Conferences and training days conducted with the CSYMA National Team are held to provide further equipping in skills for students as well as continual faith formation opportunities whilst allowing students to connect with the broader Youth Ministry community.
4 4 2.5 Provide continued professional dialogue through network exchange, journals and website Each school participating receives a Log In password to the website. In addition to regular updates on Youth Ministry through the CSYMA E- News, all schools are provided with a bi- annual journal containing the pertinent information and developments to CSYMA and other aspects of the Church Community (including providing links to National/Diocesan Retreat Team Members of CSYMA). Each school participating receives a Log In password to the website and extensive resources on the E- Reserve. 2.6 Provide CSYMA produced resources including: a) Multi- media library of examples of effective youth ministry activities (drama, testimonies etc.) and examples of the implementation within individual schools; b) Youth Ministry Team T- shirt design; c) Practical Skills in Youth Ministry series; d) Catch The Wave program; and e) A Curriculum Package which includes: f) Year 9/10 Introduction to Youth Ministry Course unit outline, teaching programs, assessment tasks, resources and multi- media package. g) Year 10 Leadership and Ministry Course - unit outline, teaching programs, assessment tasks, resources and multimedia package. h) Year 11 Youth Spirituality and Ministry Course unit outline, teaching programs, assessment tasks, resources and a multi- media package. i) Year 12 Independent Study Course unit outline, teachings programs and resources. It is recognised that this model may need to vary according to the needs of individual schools and diocesan/state curriculum guidelines and cultural expectations. 2.7 Student Certificate Provide a student certificate for successful completion of program. This would be signed by a Director of CSYMA or representative and local Bishop or representative.
5 2.8 Provide opportunities for involvement in the Church This includes access to national programmes for involvement in broader Catholic Church life such as the CSYMA Post- School National Team and employed or voluntary positions in the local Church community. These pathways will extend beyond CSYMA and may include involvement with other ministry organisations. 3. CSYMA Costing Guide for Partners As CSYMA has grown we have realized it needs to be given sound financial support to reach its full potential. The significant benefits to a Catholic secondary school in participating should make this a priority in terms of funding. The minimal budget forecasts are covering basic operating costs. All members of CSYMA TEN are entitled to the benefits with the journal copies varying depending on level of TEN Membership. Within a School - appointment of a Schools Based CSYMA contact person (usually a current role eg Mission/Ministry Director/Coordinator). See costings below. 2. For system- wide implementation the appointment of a Regional/Diocesan CSYMA Coordinator. The Regional/Diocesan Coordinator is endorsed by the CSYMA Board of Directors. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is normally completed between the School and CSYMA for a period of three years. After this three year period, a new MOU is completed for the following three years.
