Coach Certification Program The Adler Coaching Model Adler International Learning Inc. Rev. 10/22/13 Page 1 of 10

Welcome to Adler Coaching Professional coaching is emerging as an exciting new profession that helps individuals and organizations move to excellence by facilitating their learning, developing their potential and guiding effective actions. The Adler Certificate in Professional Coaching is an exceptional coach training program. We are committed to high quality training. Our faculty of top coaches has drawn on their experiences with coaching and coach training to develop a sound foundation for this fast growing profession, as well as to provide up-to-date hands-on techniques. Because of this, we have taken our place as a leader in the field of coach training. The coach training program is an exceptional opportunity to integrate tools and techniques for high performance with the core principles of Adlerian philosophy. This is a philosophy which is holistic, has advanced methodologies for building cooperative relations, takes an optimistic view of people's creativity and ability to change, and is concerned about the betterment of the human community. Yours truly, LINDA J. PAGE, PH.D. PRESIDENT, ADLER INTERNATIONAL LEARNING TORONTO, CANADA Whether you want to become a certified professional coach, or to acquire the coaching skills that are a core competency for today's leaders, Adler Learning s Coaching Programs will teach you powerful techniques to facilitate positive change for individuals, teams and organizations. Adler s coaching approach will provide you with the tools to deliver Better Relationships Better Conversations Better Bottom Line Results. We invite you to discover why ICF s Director of Accreditation called Adler s Coach Certification Program the best program we have ever reviewed, and why so many participants have called this the best learning experience of my life! Yours truly, Laura Atwood, PCC President, Adler Learning-USA Phoenix, Arizona Adler International Learning Inc. Rev. 10/22/13 Page 2 of 10

Why Choose Adler? At Adler, we respect and maintain close collegial relations with many other coaching schools in North America. We believe, however, that a combination of six criteria makes the Adler program unique: DEPTH: The depth of the Adler program comes from its connection with theories of human change that has been tested in other contexts for over a century. BREADTH: The breadth of the Adler program comes from including the broadest spectrum of coaching principles and approaches. Graduates have the freedom to explore many specific techniques because they have this broad foundation. They also have the flexibility to modify techniques to fit different situations because, through our program, they understand the principles underlying specific techniques. APPLIED LEARNING: At Adler we stress experiential, hands-on, applied learning. We believe you must use the skills to own them. From day one of the Foundations course, and throughout the certificate program, you will coach under the supervision of faculty so that you will DO coaching as well as KNOW coaching. COACH AND BE COACHED: From the outset of the program participants are expected to coach and be coached, bringing your own real life issues to the learning process. In addition to learning how to coach, you engage in a parallel personal learning journey. IN-PERSON CONTACT: Adler s coursework is mainly face-to-face, with teleclasses and distance learning as supplements. We feel that nothing can replace personal contact as an aid to learning. Our Practicum is offered both Face to Face and in distance learning format to accommodate different needs. QUALITY OF TRAINERS AND MENTORS: The faculty at Adler is first-rate. We invite you to talk with any one of them to find out for yourself. Contact our staff to set up an appointment. TESTIMONIALS: If you believe that you can, and you want to help people to bring about change and meaning in their life, Adler will teach you how. They know what they are talking about, and the course is rewarding. I absolutely love the training at Adler; I chose this school after doing some investigating, to get the best of many approaches...not to mention wonderful connections with fabulous people, and really great personal growth. I was ready for this, but this was the springboard. Coaching people, it s really my passion, and when you re with a [coaching] client it s sheer magic. It was just a fabulous decision for me to take this program. This is perhaps the best course I have ever taken, in the sense that the process of the course and the space in which it occurred was at least as influential in my learning as the content, which itself was great. The articulateness with which ideas were expounded was enchanting for me, especially on the part of the facilitators, but also that which came from the remarkable participants. I have over 20 years in management, human resources and executive experience. When I look at coaching, and specifically at the Adler program, I think it s just a wonderful opportunity to create ways to provide the one-on-one support that people need in today s corporate environment. Coaching provides the perfect way to help people reveal the best of who they are, and clarify for themselves what they want to be. I really think coaching is the way to develop the leaders of tomorrow. It s been just a wonderful program, and Adler is absolutely the best! The design of the course was amazing and so in tune with the ebbs and flows of the students energy levels and emotions on different days. With quality instruction such as this, I know I will be successful as a coach! The excellence in the design, content and facilitation enabled me to appreciate and validate the field of coaching. The coaching exercises were very important. They opened me to learning, and showed the powerful effect of coaching and how anyone can be touched by its influence. Adler International Learning Inc. Rev. 10/22/13 Page 3 of 10

Certification Program Overview The Adler Professional Coaching Program is an ICF accredited coach training program. It consists of several parts that lead to certification. Each part below is a prerequisite for the subsequent part.: e.g. you must take Foundations before Part 2; you must take Part 2 before Part 3. Adler offers recurring opportunities to participate in an extensive Supplementary Teleclasses Learning Program (included at no additional charge) and several assignments to enhance learning and implementation beyond the classroom. Certificate students must complete all assignments and attend a minimum of 10 teleclasses. PART 1 FOUNDATIONS OF PROFESSIONAL COACHING provides grounding in the Adler coaching model: 9 guiding principles, mindset, core competencies, and what it takes to be a coach. Foundations is both a powerful stand alone introduction to coaching, and the prerequisite for our ICF Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP). PART 2 - THE COACHING CONVERSATION IN THE CONTEXT OF WORK is the start of the Certification Program and looks at the individual in the context of systems and how the coach supports people in their work and their lives. Part 2 substantially expands your coaching skills while also providing additional tools and context for helping clients with work-related issues, an important focal point in almost any coaching relationship, whether you re a life coach or a business coach, regardless of your niche. PART 3 - MOVING TOWARDS ARTFUL COACHING provides exposure to and experience with a range of tools and processes to deepen coaching effectiveness and creativity. Part 3 focuses on integrating your learning, enhancing and deepening your ability to coach artfully and creatively. It includes units on metaphor, creativity, leadership, and much more. PART 4 - PRACTICUM is where the student becomes an active coaching practitioner. Students acquire clients, obtain feedback on their coaching through supervision and share their learning through case studies. Students must work with a Mentor Coach for 10 hours during Practicum (contracted privately between student and coach, cost not included in practicum fee). Practicum lasts 6 months and is completed in a Virtual format. Practicum groups are capped at 12 students for highly individualized instruction and mentoring. PART 5 - THE CERTIFICATION EXAM process consists of both written and oral components. Candidates for the exam must have successfully completed Practicum and must log a minimum of 100 hours of coaching experience before sitting for the exam. CREDENTIALS Upon successful completion of Practicum students are distinguished as ATC s Adler Trained Coach. Upon graduation (after passing exam) students are awarded the credential ACPC Adler Certified Professional Coach. Graduation as an ACPC satisfies all requirements for ICF s entry level credential (ACC Associate Certified Coach), which may be obtained by providing your proof of graduation, your log of 100 hours (no more than 25 pro bono), and letters of recommendation from 2 ICF credentialed coaches (available from faculty who have worked with you), along with ICF s application and fee.* *NOTE: ICF credentialing information stated here is current as of the date of this document, but is subject to change without notice. Go to www.coachfederation.org for the most up-to-date ICF credential requirements. PROGRAM COMPLETION TIME FRAME The Certificate Program takes approximately 12-18 months to complete, and may take longer depending on a student s choice of course dates, aggressive pursuit of coaching experience, personal readiness, etc. Students are encouraged to begin coaching and building a coaching business right out of Foundations, as the best way to get experience and build expertise. Because we are committed to offering a professional program, we need to ensure that individuals who receive our certificate have actually covered the full curriculum. At the same time, we know that life does occasionally get in the way, despite all our planning. If this should happen, we would like to work with you in finding a way to make up the core of the learning so that you can still complete the program in the original time frame. We have outlined below the process to deal with this situation. We share with you the expectation that this mechanism will be used only under exceptional circumstances (e.g. illness, compassionate grounds). Please understand that we may need to limit the number of 'make-up' classes for an individual participant. Make-up Classes: SPACE AVAILABLE: When space is available in another program, the student will have the option to take the day during that time slot. A day transfer fee of $100.00 will apply. Depending on the program day missed, the student may be required to also spend extra time with the faculty member, to be brought up to speed on the content and skills covered to enable the student to continue, in spite of the interruption. This is a decision of the faculty member teaching the program element and the amount of make-up time will be determined in discussion with the student. An additional fee of $100.00 per hour will apply. Space Unavailable: To maximize each students learning we cap the total number of students in any one class. In the event that all potential make-up classes are full, special consideration may be given if the faculty member agrees. A premium fee of $300.00 per day will be charged for make-up days where we must exceed the cap to accommodate the full day transfer, and $200.00 per half-day where we must exceed the cap to accommodate the half-day transfer. Portions of Days: If a portion of a day is missed, there may also be an option to engage a faculty member for make-up time, if the faculty member agrees. The student may have the option to schedule time with a faculty member to ensure the student is able to move through the program with the prerequisite knowledge and instruction, in spite of the time absent. If this is the case, the student will be charged for faculty time at $100.00 per hour. Requests for special consideration of exceptional circumstances that prevent full attendance are to be directed to the Certificate Program Manager. All requests are required in writing and in advance whenever possible outlining the day(s) or part day(s) you are not able to attend together with a request for support to make up the missed work. The Certificate Program Manager will review the request and advise you of the options available. This may differ from class to class, and could include spending some one-on-one time with an instructor. All fees for make-up classes must be paid immediately to secure your space. Complete your make-up assignment(s) and commitments, as agreed with the Certificate Program Manager. Grading Policies: The Certificate Program is taught on a Pass/Fail basis. A participant must meet all program completion requirements and pass all examination components (oral and written) to attain a Certificate. If a student is not successful in their attempt at the Certification Examination process, they have the opportunity for reexamination, for the exam fee in effect at the time the student re-examines. There are no restrictions on the number of times a student may undertake the Certification Exam process. Certification Time Frames: Students are required to enter a Practicum program within six months of completing Course 3 Moving Toward Artful Coaching. The maximum length of time allowed from the start of the Certificate Program (Part 2 - The Coaching Conservation in the Context of Work) to the completion of Practicum is eighteen months. After completion of Practicum you may apply for the Exam (exam fee applies), assuming you have logged 100 hours of coaching clients. At present, there is no time limit to complete the examination process. Program Alteration/Modification: Adler Learning International reserves the right to alter or modify its program offerings and/or certification requirements at any time, to offer courses in accordance with demand, availability, and as business dictates, to introduce or modify certification levels, and to make other changes as necessary or desirable in our programs and activities. Program Pricing: We have established a standard of excellence among coach training programs. In order to maintain that standard, every summer we examine the pricing structure of our various offerings. In the event we must implement an increase in fees to support existing or introduce new resources, the new fee structure becomes effective on September 1 of the same year. Privacy Policy: Adler Learning USA complies with the current government regulation (PIPEDA) regarding the protection of personal information. Student Records: As an ICF Accredited Coach Training Program, student records are subject to audit by the ICF Accreditation review committee. By entering into the Certification program and signing the student guidelines you agree that your student records can be released to the ICF for the sole purpose of auditing Adler procedures.
