Applications for Admission (both undergraduate and graduate) are available online at unk.edu/admissions. First-time students of UNK who enroll for classes will pay a nonrefundable application fee of $45 prior to registration for any UNK class. Undergraduate: (UG) students who have not enrolled at UNK for two years (since Spring 2014) must complete an application for readmission. There is no readmission fee. For an online application, go to www.unk.edu/admissions/apply.php or call 1-800-532-7639 or 308-865-8526. Graduate: (G) students who have not enrolled within the last two years, as well as those seeking admission to a second degree program, will need to reapply for admission and pay a readmission fee of $45. Application deadlines for graduate degree seeking students are as follows unless stated differently by the department: June 15 for Fall admission; October 15 for Spring admission; March 15 for Summer admission. International: For F-1 students enrolled in classes for credit or classroom hours, no more than the equivalent of one class or three credits per session, term, semester, trimester, or quarter may be counted toward the full course of study requirement if the class is taken online or through distance education and does not require the student s physical attendance for classes, examination or other purposes integral to completion of the class. An online or distance education course is a course that is offered principally through the use of television, audio, or computer transmission including open broadcast, closed circuit, cable, microwave, or satellite, audio conferencing, or computer conferencing. If the F-1 student s course of study is in a language study program, no online or distance education classes may be considered to count toward a student s full course of study requirement. Non-U.S. citizens outside the U.S. are not held to this regulation and can enroll in more than 3 credit hours of online classes. MyBLUE will NOT allow students to register for classes until they visit with their undergraduate advisor. The advisor will release an advising flag on MyBLUE once the advising session is complete. All undergraduate students, regardless of classification, should contact an academic advisor to discuss course prerequisites, course offerings and their specific degree requirements prior to registration. If you do not contact your advisor, you will not be able to register during Early Registration. Registration http://myblue.unk.edu Spring 2016 Early Registration Begins October 26 If you have been admitted to UNK, and know your NUID & password, follow the directions below: Step 1: Use one of the supported browsers: Internet Explorer 9, Firefox 18.0.2+ or Safari 4.0. Step 2: For registration times, go to http://myblue.unk.edu and choose Registration Appt Times. Step 3: To access MyBLUE go to https://myblue.unk.edu, or go to the UNK home page at www.unk.edu and choose the MyBLUE link at the bottom of the page. Step 4: Login with your NUID number and password. (You created these two identifiers when you filled out your online admission form.) Step 5: Once on your Student Center MyBLUE page: a) Find the Enrollment Section and select Enroll b) The student will read a statement regarding their responsibility to pay for tuition & fees for the class they are about to register. Unless they follow proper procedures to drop or withdraw from the course, the student is obligated to pay their bill. c) Click the continue button d) Select a term (Spring 2016) then click continue e) Enter the class number (can be 4 or 5 digits) click enter f) Click the finishing enrollment button - look for a green check mark which will indicate successful enrollment. Other options available on MyBLUE include grades, account balance, financial aid, address information, degree audit, and transcripts. It is important to register early as classes fill up quickly. Students must be admitted to UNK before they can register. Students may register for any UNK class that has been officially added to the schedule and has a class number. A late fee of $15 will be assessed for any student who registers after the first meeting day of the class in the summer or after the first meeting week in the fall or spring. This degree in business administration provides students with a solid foundation of the various aspects of businesses and an appreciation of how the integration of those functional areas impact organizational performance. Graduates of the BSBA Online Degree Completion Program earn a four-year degree in Business Administration from UNK. Graduates of this program often find positions in management, marketing, accounting, finance, economics, human resource management, information technology, and supply chain management. The UNK business programs are accredited by AACSB International, the highest standard of achievement of business schools worldwide. The BSBA program requires a total of 35 credit hours for the major plus completion of a minor. The accounting minor (21 hrs.) and marketing/management minor (24 hrs.) can be completed totally online. Courses reflect current trends in justice, and faculty have both practitioner and research expertise. A highlight of the degree program is the intensive internship that will provide hands-on experience in the field. The internship is completed at a location convenient to the student. Online Programs For more information, go to ecampus.unk.edu 7 Driver Education Endorsement (Blended) The Driver Education Endorsement may be an addition to your Nebraska Teaching Certificate. This endorsement also provides the courses necessary for non-certified teachers to be approved by the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles. Students pursuing this certification in other states must check with their State Department of Education for certification requirements. The undergraduate coursework may be completed online while the lab component must be completed at the Nebraska Safety Center Driving Range in Kearney, Nebraska. This lab component may be completed in a minimum of three to five days. Endorsement: Driver Education Endorsement Degree Level: Undergraduate Credit Hours: 9 credit hours Prerequisites: To obtain a Driver Education Endorsement or equivalency of a Driver Education Endorsement you need to be at least 21 years of age. Information Technology Endorsement The information technology track is designed for individuals who are interested in the computer science aspect of instructional technology. The track focuses on information technology teaching methodologies, programming techniques, and system administration skills. This track will provide a strong foundation for individuals who are working in the information technology areas related to schools, multimedia, web design specialists, and for individuals interested in more of a technology focus area of instruction. It is also designed for business professionals who train or support end users. For certified teachers, this track will lead to a supplemental endorsement in Information Technology, which allows recipients to teach programming and web design courses in K-12 schools. For non-teachers, this track does not lead to the initial teaching certificate but it does allow for flexibility in course selection and inclusion of additional computer science and information technology courses. In addition to developing instructional technology skills, the candidate will develop technology administration abilities, manage professional development resources, and will be able to provide instructional technology leadership for his or her school building or district. Students get the best of both worlds - the flexibility of online courses combined with the personal attention, interactivity, and experiential learning of in-person delivery. With nearly 85% of the instruction offered online, students are only required to attend face-to-face classes about 15% of the time. Seven classes are offered totally online while four classes are offered in a blended format (mostly online with 6 or less on-campus meetings). A typical semester may consist of one fully online class and one blended class. The program consists of 18 hours of Spanish coursework and 18 hours of education-related coursework primarily focused on second language acquisition and foreign language pedagogy. Students will have the option of either completing a 6-hour thesis or combining Spanish courses with summer study abroad options. This graduate program is unique because it is one of the few online programs in the country that focuses on Spanish education. The online format along with potential study abroad options enable students to conveniently focus on both their Spanish proficiency as well as their knowledge of foreign and second language pedagogy. The MAE in Spanish Education would enable graduates to pursue additional career opportunities teaching Spanish at a community college or serve as lecturers and/or adjuncts at colleges and universities. You may be a recent college graduate or a mid-career professional who is eager to become a teacher but have personal or professional commitments which make it impossible to attend on-campus college classes. This program consists of 18 credit hours of online teacher education coursework and 6 credit hours of student teaching. The three 6-credit hour courses may be completed online while the supervised field experiences and student teaching are completed in your community. If an academic review of transcripts indicates a deficiency in the content area in which you are seeking certification, additional coursework may be required. Students who meet the qualifications to start the Transitional Certification Program are also eligible to be hired by a Nebraska public school to start teaching in their endorsement area.
