The Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) qualification The ACA qualification is awarded by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). ICAEW is the most prestigious body of Chartered Accountants worldwide. It helps to shape the world s accountancy and finance profession and influence the global business environment. How to become a Chartered Accountant? The student needs to: 1. Contract a minimum of 3-year Training Agreement with an ICAEW Authorised Training Employer to complete 450 days of Technical Work Experience(TWE) 2. Pass 15 examination modules. Eligibility The minimum requirements to register for the ACA programme are: 2 A -levels and 3 GCSE (Grade A-C). Academic qualification holders are eligible for up to 8 credits, while professional qualified students can apply for up to 12 credits. More details on the website: www.icaew.com/cpl ACA Syllabus The ACA syllabus is divided into 2 main groups: Professional & Advanced Stages. The Professional Stage is further broken down into Knowledge and Application Levels. Knowledge Level (6 modules): The Knowledge level modules introduce and develop core knowledge and skills. Application Level (6 modules): The Application level modules enhance the core knowledge and skills, and assess practical technical application. Advanced Level (2 Technical Integration modules and 1 Case Study): The Advanced Stage syllabus ensures that students can integrate and apply their technical, professional and ethical skills in a variety of business environments. Exams Knowledge level: (6 computer-based exams) Students can register for the computer-based exams at any time of the year; these exams are sat at ICAEW approved exam centres in Mauritius. Application Level (6 paper-based exams) Exams are scheduled in March, June, September and December at the Mauritius Examination Syndicate (MES). Advanced Level: (3 paper-based exams) Exams are scheduled in July and November at the Mauritius Examination Syndicate (MES). Practical Training Ebene School of Accountancy and Finance provides to full-time students: both Tuition and Practical Training as requested by ICAEW and, 3 years of salaried employment thus ensuring the ACA status to be granted to students after completion of examination and training We make arrangements with ATEs (Authorised Training Employers) in Mauritius to provide 3-year employment contract allowing the student to complete 450 days of training as requested by ICAEW What is an Authorised Training Employer (ATE)? An ATE is an employer approved by the ICAEW to offer training to students aspiring to become a Chartered Accountant Technical Work Experience (TWE) Technical Work Experience (TWE) is acquired during the 3-year employment with an ATE. TWE is undertaking real work of a financial, business and/or commercial nature. It excludes exam days, holidays, courses, illness and office administration. ACA students must complete a minimum of 450 days of TWE with an ATE. The TWE must relate to at least one of the following six technical categories:
1. Accounting, 2. Financial Management, 3. Audit/Assurance, 4. Insolvency, 5. Taxation, 6. Information Technology Duration and start date of ACA programme The ACA programme is scheduled over a period of 3 years and the next intake starts in January 2013. REGISTRATION & FEES Registration as student member Students need to register as ACA student with ICAEW. The registration process can be done on-line and the registration fee is 165. There is no registration fee to enrol for the ACA course. Enrolment is validated only after payment of the first instalment. Students need to fill in the ACA Application Form to confirm eligibility before making any payment. Course fees PART-TIME STUDENTS Special Package of Rs 330,000 (11,000 USD) for Tuition & Revision courses for 15 modules (Knowledge, Application and Advanced modules), including learning material. Special Package of Rs 270,000 (9,000 USD) for Tuition & Revision courses for 9 modules (Application and Advanced modules), including learning material. The special package provides free access to any tuition or revision course for any exam re-sit. FULL-TIME STUDENTS Special Package of Rs 450,000 (15,000 USD) for 15 modules (Knowledge, Application and Advanced modules), including learning material. Special Package of Rs 390,000 (13,000 USD) for 9 modules (Application and Advanced modules), including learning material. The special package provides the following benefits: 1. Ebene School of Accountancy and Finance undertakes to arrange a 3-yr employment and practical training contract with an ATE 2. Students will be paid a salary by the ATE during the period of 3 years of employment. Fees will be partly compensated by salary earned through employment in an ATE recommended by Ebene School of Accountancy and Finance. 3. Students will follow an intensive full-time practical training during a period of 6 months prior to employment with an ATE 4. SCHOOL RESOURCES Infrastructure Ebene School of Accountancy and Finance is located in Cybercity-Ebene, near the towns Rose-Hill and Quatre-Bornes in the central region of Mauritius. Cybertower 1 facilities Ebene School of Accountancy and Finance occupies the 2 nd floor-wing B of the Cybertower1 in Cybercity-Ebene; this building is a state-of-the-art building with modern access and security system. The ground floor provides a large public area with food court and other vital services such as bank and postal services. The rear side of the building leads to a car park and a green recreational space. School premises The school premises occupy nearly 700 square metres on the second floor of Cybertower1. Courses will be delivered in three large training rooms which can each accommodate 40 students. A student self-study area including a library and computers with Internet access is also made available to students.
