MIT ZARAGOZA Master in Logistics and Supply Chain Management

employers are wooing supply chain experts as they search for people with the broad range of talents needed to oversee the entire journey of a product from sourcing to customer delivery in today s globalized market. [...] Universities and business schools are introducing supply chain programmes to fill the gap, including the London Business School (LBS) and Cranfield School of Management in the UK, MIT in the US, and the University of Zaragoza in Spain. Financial Times article, Recruitment: Skilled staff are harder to find than ever. Jan 25, 2011. Why MIT-Zaragoza Master in Logistics & Supply Chain Management?

The MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics & Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) Program offers the unique combination of a worldclass supply chain degree taught in a truly global setting. Created in 2004 in collaboration with the leading university in the field, the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics, the ZLOG program prepares you to make an impact in a wide range of industries worldwide. 72% higher average outgoing salary Meets the high demand for a new type of leader Our specialized Master s closes the gap between the industry s lacks of skilled supply chain experts and the current challenges of globalization. That is why our students average outgoing base salary is 72% higher than their average incoming salary. 95% hired within 3 months Leads to great opportunities in top companies Our students are recruited by Fortune 500 companies as diverse as Amazon, Caterpillar, Coca-Cola, HP, Nike, Pfizer, Roche and Schlumberger. 95% are hired within 3 months of graduation. Alumni job titles range from Graduate Trainee through Supply Chain Manager all the way to CEO. Professionals from over 40 countries Creates a highly selective and diverse class environment An exceptional low student to professor ratio creates a superb environment for interaction with professors and fellow students. Students have come from over 40 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and North and South America. Ranked #1 Over 500 supply chain professionals in the alumni network 9-month Master s Program Delivers first-rate recognized education The ZLOG Program has been ranked #1 in the field of logistics by the main Master s ranking in Spain - El Mundo. It builds upon the graduate business program in supply chain management at MIT, which has consistently been ranked #1 by US News and World Report. Provides access to an exclusive MIT Global Network ZLOG students not only have access to the resources of MIT career services, but also to the overall MIT Alumni Base and more specifically to the MIT Global SCALE Alumni Network which stretches around the globe and across all industries. Offers a high ROI Compared to the standard two-year MBA program, our intensive Master s means less tuition and less than one year of income reduction. Still the ZLOG program will provide you with the problem solving and leadership skills that companies seek in an increasingly complex and dynamic marketplace.

Curriculum In nine months, students must complete core and elective coursework, a Master s thesis, and participate in the International Exchange at MIT. Graduates receive a Master s degree from the University of Zaragoza and a certificate from the MIT-Zaragoza International Logistics Program. Leadership is emphasized throughout the program, beginning fall semester with a focus on self-assessment instruments and role-playing and continuing with team dynamics during the four-week international exchange program in January. Here ZLOG students participate in an international exchange with MIT students at both MIT and Zaragoza campuses. Finally, the spring semester develops research and communication skills required by thought leaders. Courses integrate the case method to reinforce foundational concepts and develop problem solving skills. Hence each ZLOG student is required to complete a research thesis that typically involves at least one sponsoring company or organization. This provides an opportunity for students to work closely with industry professionals on a real-life supply chain challenge, along with a professor as expert thesis advisor to together bring new insights and approaches to an active supply chain project. Students are also exposed to industry through seminars led by practitioners and special facility tours. Faculty ZLC has a culturally diverse faculty staff educated at some of the most prestigious universities from around the world such as Columbia, Georgia Tech., Goethe, Harvard, Indian Institute of Technology, MIT, Purdue, Stanford, St. Gallen and Technion. They also have extensive industry experience ranging from start-up companies to multinationals in a variety of industries, such as manufacturing, transportation, banking, consulting, and technology.

MIT ZARAGOZA Most of the thesis topics are from real companies with real problems they are trying to solve and that give the students the opportunity to experience the intricacies of working with a real company. Wiko Kabiling, ZLOG 2010 Global Forecasting Manager Novo Nordisk (Denmark) The program s biggest advantages are that you find people from 4 continents in one classroom, the MIT Network gives you access to many of the gurus in the logistics and supply chain fields, and the dual degree gives you a combination of a technological focus and a business perspective. Ania Vargas, ZLOG 2009 Regional Business Demand Planner Roche (Switzerland) The MIT-Zaragoza program is very rewarding in that getting a first rate supply chain education goes towards achieving your personal ambitions and above all it makes you very self assured in whatever it is that you want to do in supply chain and logistics. James Dorbor Jallah, ZLOG 2008 Deputy Minister for Sectoral Planning Ministry of Planning & Economic Affairs (Liberia) The true uniqueness of this program can be captured in one word camaraderie. We came from different countries and now, thanks to ZLOG, we are from one world with a connection in Zaragoza, Spain.
