BodyMedia SenseWear Retrieve (V1) Introduction Overview System Requirement Retrieve Installation Set Up 1
Introduction Overview SenseWear Retrieve is used to retrieve Armband data and send it to a central site for processing. Retrieve can operate two ways: Option 1 with an SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) server configured (recommended configuration) Secure server allowing data files to be automatically uploaded for additional processing by a central site using SenseWear Professional. You may need to work with your IT department or third-party service provider to set up a server. Makes Retrieve significantly easier to use and provides the most secure communications pathway Option 2 without an SFTP server configured (suitable for trials and product evaluations) Other means must be used (e.g. email) to convey the data files to the central site for additional processing. System Requirements PC system requirements: PC with an available USB Port Windows XP (32 bit), Windows Vista (32 and 64 bit) and Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit) Minimum video resolution of 1024x768 for Retrieve 256 MB RAM or higher Internet access required for SFTP site access User with administrative rights to computer (to install software) Retrieve Installation Retrieve is installed via an InstallShield setup program. The setup program also creates Start menu shortcuts and installs the Armband USB (Universal Serial Bus) device drivers. 1. Download Retrieve from sensewear.bodymedia.com. 2. Run the downloaded installer program. 3. After a few seconds the installation wizard appears; follow the instructions on your screen. During installation you may receive a pop-up window indicating that you do not have the proper authorizations to install this product. If you receive this message, contact your Administrator or IT Department for assistance. Set Up Initial Set Up When Retrieve is first started, the program shows the main Retrieve Armband Data screen (see Figure 1 below. 2
Figure 1 Connect an Armband to the computer using a USB cable and click the Retrieve button to start the Armband data retrieval. During the data retrieval, the user will be prompted to provide the Subject Info (see Figure 2). Figure 2 The Subject Info must be provided (since it is used to calculate energy expenditure) or else the data retrieval will be aborted. When the data retrieval completes, the Summary screen is shown (see Figure 3). 3
Figure 3 From the Summary screen the user can review the data derived from the Armband data. The control at the top of the screen can be used to select date/time ranges. The values at the bottom of the screen update automatically to reflect the selected date/time range. Clicking the My Data Properties button allows the user to adjust the Subject Info and/or the time zone for the data. Clicking the Upload to Server button will send the data file to the SFTP server. If not configured, a message will be displayed (see Figure 4) and the user will be asked to specify the server settings files (see Figure 5). Alternatively, the user can select Settings Application Preferences at any time to provide the server information. Figure 4 4
Figure 5 From the Server Settings window, the user should select the server configuration file generated by the AdminTool program. This file typically has a.retrieve file extension (e.g. myserverconfiguration.retrieve). Typically, each installation for Retrieve has its own server configuration file. When a server configuration file is provided, the Test Server Communications button can be used to verify connectivity with the server. If no SFTP server is configured, then Retrieve data files can be found in the <My Documents>\My Body- Media Files directory, where the location of the <My Documents> folder depends on the version of Windows and the user s own preferences. You will need to find an alternative mechanism for transmitting the data files to the central facility for processing. 5
