Why these Data Matter The data contains information about EVERY aspect of business for EVERY industry Banking & financial services, retail, manufacturing, energy, healthcare, Supply chain, marketing, sales, reporting, CRM, risk management, investment, compliance, Unlocking the information and insights contained in the data means a huge competitive advantage Those who cannot will lose out! 10

McKinsey (May 2011) US will have a deficit of close 200,000 professionals with deep analytical skills by 2018 Need to retrain 1.5 million data-savvy managers who understand the value of data and know the right questions to ask Gartner (October 2012) 1.9 million Big Data jobs will be created in the US by 2015 Only 1/3 of these jobs will be filled due to the lack of trained talents Education is failing us by not producing enough people Each Big Data job will create 3 additional jobs 11
