THE SPEAKERS Yoon Yew Khuen Bank Negara Malaysia Yoon is an Actuary in the Insurance & Takaful Supervision Department of Bank Negara Malaysia. His role includes the review of actuarial valuation, ICAAP practices and new product submissions in supporting the supervisory assessment of the financial strength and conduct of insurers and takaful operators. He also supports policy development in the Bank and has been involved in RBC, ICAAP and the Financial Sector Blueprint. Yoon is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and Fellow of the Actuarial Society of Malaysia. William Liang Ernst & Young William is a senior manager from Ernst & Young based in Singapore. He is an Australian qualified actuary with more than 12 years of general insurance experience in both Asia and Australia. He specializes in liability valuation, pricing, due diligence support, appraisal valuation and risk management for insurers. Ming Yi Wong Ernst & Young Ming Yi is a senior associate from Ernst & Young based in Singapore. She is an associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society with general insurance experience in Asia. Her experience includes liability valuation, due diligence support, ICAAP review and appraisal valuation. Gary Hoo JPWALL Consulting Partners Gary is a general insurance actuary and is Principal for the Kuala Lumpur office of JPWALL Consulting Partners. His experience includes reserving, ratemaking, appraisal valuations, capital modelling, enterprise risk management and reinsurance optimization. He consults to and has in-depth knowledge of the local Malaysian general insurance industry. Gary is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society as well as the Actuarial Societies of Malaysia and Singapore. Cathy Hwang Milliman Cathy is a principal and consulting actuary at Milliman s Hong Kong office, where she specializes in the Greater China property and casualty and health insurance markets. She has worked on various assignments for (re)insurance companies, large self-insured employers, and government entities in Greater China and Southeast Asia. Cathy is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Fellow of the China Association of Actuaries.
Roshan Perera NMG Consulting Roshan is based in Kuala Lumpur and is the Manager of NMG s Actuarial Consulting Solutions practice. His responsibilities within NMG Actuarial involve new business development, account relationship management and leadership support. Prior to joining NMG, Roshan was the Head of Actuarial & Risk Management Services and a member of the Executive Committee of the largest composite insurer in Sri Lanka. Roshan started his career in 2000 working within the Life, Pensions and Investment division of one of the largest bancassurers in the UK. Chin Yuen Leng NMG Consulting Yuen joined NMG Consulting in Kuala Lumpur as a Consultant in 2013. Since joining NMG, she has been involved in the stress-testing and statutory valuation of insurance liabilities for various General Insurance companies in Southeast Asia. Prior to NMG, Yuen was a Consultant within the Deloitte s Actuarial and Insurance Solutions Practice, where she worked extensively on risk capital quantification projects (model building, parameterisation and validation) and reserving for 3.5 years. Yuen is a Fellow of the UK Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA). William Song MSIG Asia William is the regional actuary of MSIG Asia, based in Singapore. He has over twelve years of general insurance experience from different insurance markets in Asia-Pacific, including Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Vietnam. His experience includes insurance liability valuation, capital modelling and quantitative risk management, technical premium rating using Generalised Linear Model ( GLM ), mergers and acquisitions and profitability analysis. William is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (FIAA) and a Fellow of the Singapore Actuarial Society. Felicia Er MSIG Asia Felicia joined MSIG Asia in October 2012. Prior to this, she worked in the analytics team at Aon Benfield Asia and as a consultant in the general insurance actuarial department at Ernst and Young, London. Felicia has a range of experience in reserving, reinsurance optimisation, reinsurance pricing, capital modelling, Solvency II implementation and profitability analysis. Felicia is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in the UK and a Fellow of the Singapore Actuarial Society
Hussain Ahmad Casualty Actuarial Society Hussain Ahmad is a Director and Consulting Actuary in Towers Watson s Singapore office. He has over a decade of experience working in four different countries and advises clients on regulatory as well as strategic issues. Hussain has been an active member of the Casualty Actuarial Society in Asia, volunteering in the Asia Regional Committee and currently serving as the Singapore Ambassador for the CAS. He is passionate about raising the profile of the actuarial profession and broadening the role of the general insurance actuary, particularly in Asia. Hussain holds a Master of Finance with Distinction in Financial Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with High Honors in Actuarial Science. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, Singapore Actuarial Society and the Actuarial Society of Malaysia. Jeremy Wall JPWALL Consulting Partners Jeremy has worked as a general insurance actuary in Asia for over 15 years on over 50 M&A transactions, 40 DFA and stress testing projects, 30 reinsurance optimisation assignments, 20 actuarial training programmes, 10 GLM pricing projects and 1 celebrity expert witness testimony (as well as nearly 1,000 IBNR projects) in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, The Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, China, Korea, Japan and Saudi Arabia. Anthony Atkins Ernst & Young Tony is a manager from Ernst & Young based in Singapore. He is a UK qualified actuary with general insurance experience in both Asia and UK specializing in liability valuation, due diligence support and risk management for insurers. Nurul Syuhada Nurazmi Actuarial Partners Syuhada is among the first in Malaysia to qualify as a Fellow of Casualty Actuarial Society. She has performed reserving for IBNR claims and RBC works for general insurers and takaful operators in Malaysia, Bahrain, Brunei and Mauritius. Her experience in appraisal valuation ranges from due diligence of the general insurers to determining the potential value of a bancassurance general operations of a Malaysian insurer. She is the Signing Actuary for several general insurers and takaful operators in Malaysia. She is also involved in the pricing and certification of Medical and Health Insurance products in Malaysia, including products by the industry bodies LIAM, PIAM and MTA.
Chye Pang Hsiang Pang is a principal and actuary with Milliman, based in Hong Kong. He specializes in property and casualty insurance and healthcare, and has consulted to more than 80 property and casualty insurance and reinsurance companies in Greater China and Southeast Asia. He also has extensive experience in healthcare, having consulted to governments, insurance companies, health plans, hospitals, physician groups, and pharmaceutical companies in Asia, the US, and South Africa. Pang is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, the Actuarial Institute of the Republic of China, the Society of Actuaries Thailand and the Singapore Actuarial Society. Jack Jiang Milliman Jack is a consulting actuary with the Milliman Hong Kong non-life practice, specializing in property and casualty and health insurance. His experience extends from Asia to Australia and New Zealand, where he previously worked in the areas of property and casualty and health insurance for both the private and public sectors. He has also held statutory Appointed Actuary positions in several countries including China, Hong Kong and Malaysia. Jack is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia. Jaykishan Jeyendran Aon Benfield Jaykishan joined Aon Benfield in September, 2008 as part of the Sydney team responsible for the servicing Australia and New Zealand clients. He is now a member of the Aon Benfield Asia analytical team providing services to a range of Aon Benfield s Asia Pacific insurance and reinsurance clients, across a variety of disciplines encompassing actuarial & catastrophe modeling, Reinsurance pricing and Reinsurance optimization. Shailendra Sapra Aon Benfield Shailendra joined Aon Benfield in November 2010. He graduated with a Bachelors of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is a member of the analytical team providing actuarial support for the team including reinsurance optimization and pricing. Shailendra is currently a student member of Institute of Actuaries, UK.
