Candidate Eligibility Requirements The population eligible to sit for the AMCA examinations must be 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or equivalent and meet one of the below requirements: Graduate from a training program (proof of completion is required) Or have 2 or more years of work experience and be currently working in that field Candidates must provide proof of employment/ experience in the form of a written letter and high school diploma or equivalent. Letters should include daily responsibilities and tasks performed as part of your clinical medical assistant role. Letters are verified and must be written on company letterhead. (NJ Candidates are not eligible for this option in which to test as it violates N.J.A.C. 13:35-6.4 all NJ candidates must graduate from a State of NJ approved program) The laws and regulations pertaining to minimum requirements and the allied health industry vary by state. It is highly recommended that test candidates familiarize themselves with their particular states rules and regulations regarding certification requirements.

Exam Study Material Study Material The AMCA provides study material for all of our National Certification Exams. A PDF of each study guide will be sent to each campus director and students upon exam registration. We encourage the campus director to forward the Study Guides to each instructor for them to forward to students at the beginning of each class. Three Days Prior to Exam THREE days prior to each exam, the exam proctor will receive individual emails addressed to each candidate who have registered to challenge the AMCA National Certification exam. Day of the Exam Step One: Have the candidate(s) sitting in front of computer Step Two: The exam proctor will forward each Online Registration Confirmation to each individuals email address. Step Three: All candidates can get started by clicking the word login. (Remember, their Learner ID is always their email address and the password are the candidates initials and last four of their social.)
Exam Interruptions If a students gets kicked OFF his/her computer or is interrupted while taking their exam, just log back in. Once you log back in this is what the screen will look like. Go to Quick links and click on Interrupted Tests and Surveys
Completing Exams Once the candidate has completed and submitted their answers to the online exam, one of the following messages will appear: Congratulations you have passed the AMCA National certification exam. (a 70% is the passing score) or Congratulations! you have completed your certification exam.
Exam Results Once all of the students have completed their online exams, the AMCA will forward the results and grade of each student to the assigned exam proctor within one to three days. All students tests results are reviewed by the AMCA compliance department. Please wait before posting final grades. Exam Retakes: Cost only $59.00 and the candidate can retake immediately. No waiting time. *Candidates are allowed to call the AMCA at 888.960.2622 for exam results.
Certificates and Cards Once exam grades are entered into the AMCA database, certificates, cards or failed letters will be prepared and mailed within 10 days. All certificates, cards and failed letters will be sent via UPS to each campus director or assigned staff member.
