1 NEW Changes in the Student Services Certification Application Process MO DESE Web Application Tutorial Guidebook (Lindenwood University Edition)

2 Lindenwood University Student Services Certification Application On June 1, 2011, Missouri DESE implemented a new online certification system. Applicants must set up an account and create a profile application through DESE s website, then request to have it submitted to Lindenwood University for review. The student services certification application components include the following: 1. An online certification application created through MO DESE s Web Application System 2. Student Services Information Sheet submitted to Lindenwood University 3. Official transcripts from each institution attended undergraduate and graduate 4. Current background clearances The applicant is responsible for creating and submitting the online application, completing the certification information sheet, requesting official transcripts from undergraduate and additional graduate institutions, and ensuring background checks are current on DESE s file. The Certification Officer will request official Lindenwood transcripts to attach to the recommendation for certification; however, the applicant must request all undergraduate and additional graduate transcripts to be attached to the application. Please Note: Due to the heavy volume of teacher, student services, administrator, and superintendent certification applications, the Certification Officer approximate 3-5 weeks upon receiving all required materials and paperwork to process and submit recommendations for certification.

3 Step 1: Visit DESE.mo.gov and click on Web applications at the bottom of the home page. Step 2: Register for a New Account or Enter Log-In Information If you are a returning user, enter your log-in information and skip to Step 10. If you are a new user, click Register.

4 Step 3: Enter Your Registration Information Write down your User Name and Password you will be prompted to enter it again in a later step! Step 4: Continue and Log-In Log in with your new User Name and Password.

5 Step 5: Request to Access the Online System Click here. Re-named Educator Certification System. Step 6: Enter SSN and Date of Birth

6 Step 7: Create Your Profile Enter, then Save. Step 8: Enter Contact Information 1. Enter contact information. Save.

7 Step 9: Add and Save Education Information 2. Add. 1. Click Education (Please Note: the Certification Officer will add LU transcripts to your application; however, you will need to request your UG and additional MA transcripts to add to your application.) Step 9 Continued 1. Enter information, then Save.

8 Step 10: Begin with Professional Conduct Questions 2. Click Initial Cert under Start here Start here. Step 11: Select Type of Application, Accept DESE s Policy, Submit to Lindenwood University 1. Choose type of application: Student Services 2. Accept Release of Information Statement 3. Select Lindenwood University, then Submit

9 Step 13: Complete and submit the Student Services Certification Information Sheet (found on next page). Official undergraduate and additional graduate transcripts must be included with your Certification Information Sheet. The Certification Officer will process recommendations for certification upon the completion of the degree program and the receipt of the Certification Information Sheet and additional transcripts.
