An intuitive touchscreen system allows players to prepare bets and lottery wagers which are then stored against Near Field Communication (NFC) tags. The retailer then simply scans the tag and takes payment from the player. The tag also replaces a traditional paper receipt, although a receipt can of course still be printed if that is the preference. A history of betting activity is recorded against the tag which allows for specifically targeted promotions and loyalty schemes to be available, although a player may remain anonymous and unregistered as per traditional retail betting.
