3 Introduction Introduction of Rack & Stack 123 TM Rack and Stack is an integration process to stack up switches, servers and storage equipment onto a rack or cabinet for data center deployment. Redundant power distribution units are also installed along with network and power cables. This process is taking place either inside a data center or off-site, and a full test cycle is often performed before plugging in the equipment to the mission critical data centers. Rack and stack simplifies asset management, logistics, implementation as well as overall business processes. It s common to connect a server on rack unit #1 at the bottom of a rack to port 1 on the switches. With vendors proprietary design and limitations from power, cooling, ASIC s, etc., this is an area of complexity that directly affect cabling.
