1 ARTICULATION AGREEMENT Between The Faculty of Business Administration at Yorkville University (YU), a private university designated under the New Brunswick Degree Granting Act to offer university degrees And The Film Production, Acting for Film, TV and Theatre, and Writing for Film and TV s, hereinafter referred to as film programs, at Toronto Film School at RCC Institute of Technology (RCCIT), a Private Career College authorized by the Province of Ontario to offer certificate, diploma, and degree programs across a variety of specializations and disciplines HEREINAFTER referred to as the Parties. WHEREAS both Parties agree that an academic partnership that creates seamless pathways from diploma to degree completion is beneficial to their current and future students; WHEREAS both Parties are committed to providing high quality academic programs that serve to advance the academic and professional goals of their students; and WHEREAS both Parties offer post- secondary education programs recognized and approved by their respective provinces; THEREFORE the Parties agree to establish formal articulated pathways for graduates of the Toronto Film School at RCC Institute of Technology s film diploma programs to complete their Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at Yorkville University. RCCIT film program diploma holders will be admitted to and given credits toward the Yorkville BBA program in accordance with the details outlined below. 1. Project Background The BBA program at Yorkville University was designated by Order- in- Council under the New Brunswick Degree Granting Act in May 2012 and offered its first classes in October The program was approved as a degree completion opportunity for individuals who wish to build upon their prior academic credentials and earn an undergraduate degree. RCC Institute of Technology is authorized under Ontario s Private Career College Act (2004) to offer diploma programs in interior design which fit the criteria for transfer to the YU BBA program. 2. Project Summary This Agreement formalizes the articulation of the Toronto Film School at RCCIT Film programs to the BBA program at YU. Students completing the film diploma programs at RCCIT who achieve the required
2 academic standing will be able to seamlessly transition into the BBA program at YU and will receive credit toward their BBA for work completed at RCCIT. This continuance of study will allow them to work in their chosen field while continuing their studies and completing their undergraduate degree in a reasonable period of time. 3. s under consideration: This Agreement identifies the conditions under which students from the following RCCIT Interior Design diploma program can seamlessly transition into the YU BBA program: 3.1. Writing for Film and TV Diploma, Toronto Film School at RCC Institute of Technology 3.2. Acting for Film, TV and the Theatre Diploma, Toronto Film School at RCC Institute of Technology 3.3. Film Production 4. Under this Articulation Agreement, YU agrees to: 4.1. Admit graduates from the RCCIT Film programs who meet all eligibility criteria listed in this agreement, and award those students a 36 block transfer of credits toward completion of the BBA. To be eligible for admission and the award of block transfer credits, the RCCIT graduate must have graduated with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on the RCCIT 4.3 grading scale (C or above). Providing RCCIT graduates have been working in the field of study relevant to their diploma program, there will be no time limit applied to the ability to transfer their film credits into the 36 block at YU Collaborate with RCCIT in the development and implementation of a marketing plan to promote the academic pathway options for RCC students Place RCCIT film diploma holders who meet the academic standards set herein in high priority in the admissions process Review RCCIT curricula changes in a timely manner as required to ensure the integrity of this articulation remains sound. 5. Under this Articulation Agreement, RCCIT agrees to: 5.1. Advise YU immediately of any changes to curricula of any of the academic programs encompassed within this agreement Collaborate with YU in the development and implementation of a marketing plan to promote the academic pathways for RCCIT students Promote the YU BBA pathway to RCCIT students, both current and alumni.
3 6. - by- Articulation Details Schedule A appended to this document set out the details of the articulation between each RCCIT film diploma program and the YU BBA. 7. Duration and Cancellation Articulations between RCC Film programss and the YU BBA shall remain in effect for five (5) years or sixty (60) months following signature and endorsement by both parties and may be cancelled by either party by giving the other party at least one term s notice in writing of intention to cancel 8. No Agency Relationship In carrying out the responsibilities and obligations of this Agreement, neither party shall be acting as the agent or principal of the other with regard to dealings with third parties, including students. In this program, students have the opportunity right from the beginning of the program to collaborate closely with those in other Toronto Film School programs (Film Production and Acting for Film, TV & the Theatre). They will learn about their role in the entire filming process from developing a script, casting, pre- production, production to edits and re- writes. They will be challenged every term in workshops where they will review and critique each other s work. In the last term, students will gain practical experience within a simulated writing room environment.
