Undergraduate Policies and Procedures Undergraduate Policies & Procedures: The Undergraduate Policies and Procedures Manual outlines and explains the policies and procedures governing undergraduate study at FIU. The policies include those concerning: the Undergraduate Program, University and Department Admission Criteria, College Level Academic Skills (CLAST), Academic Advising, General Academic Policies, Award of Degrees and Commencement Exercises, Educational Support Services and Undergraduate Administration. A keyword index links the Undergraduate, Graduate and Academic Affairs Policies and Procedures Manuals. The Standards of Student Conduct summarize the position of the University concerning ethics and honesty. Instructions for WebCT Chapter Quizzes, WebCT Chapter Assignments, and Financial Plan Please read the Standards of Student Conduct and use it as your guide throughout the course. I take each and every instance of academic misconduct very seriously. Chapter Quizzes: Students will take one or two "Multiple Choice" quizzes a week through WebCT on each chapter during the semester. There are 22 quizzes and you will be graded on the best 20 out of 22. Please review all instructions before taking the quiz; quizzes will not be reset if you miss the deadline or fail to follow instructions! Please be sure that your browser is properly configured and that it will accept pop-ups when you are in WebCT. The Quizzes are accessible through the "Quizzes & Assignments" link on the Course Menu in WebCT. Once you access a Chapter Quiz, the "clock" will start and you must finish and submit the quiz in the time allotted; you will not be able to access the same quiz more than once. You must submit the quiz when you are finished or WebCT will not record your grade. The Chapter Quizzes are closed book and closed notes. You are allowed to use a calculator, scrap paper, and the Time Value of Money Interest Tables: (FV), (FVA), (PV), (PVA). Alternatively, you can use the Interest Tables in Appendix B of the text on pages The use of any other resources or assistance during quizzes will be considered a violation of the Student Code of Conduct! The Schedule will list the Quiz deadlines. Chapter Assignments: There are assignments for each week consisting of selected exercises from the end-of-chapter Financial Planning Problems. There are 19 assignments. These open-book assignments are taken in WebCT and during the availability period you may attempt the assignment as many times as you wish. If you want to retake an assignment, you must first submit your previous attempt. For grading purposes, the attempt with the highest score will be recorded in the grade book. Once the assignment is opened, you may work on it for up to twelve hours before you must submit it for grading. The assignments will not be reset if you miss the deadline or fail to follow instructions. The assignment questions are not in "Multiple Choice" format; you must enter the answer with the required accuracy in the specified format in the answer box. Please follow the directions carefully when answering the questions. For example, you may be instructed to "Round to two decimal places." In this case, your answer must be accurate and must be displayed to two decimal places or the item will be marked incorrect by the system. The Assignments are accessible through the "Quizzes & Assignments" link on the Course Menu in WebCT.

5 The Schedule will list the Assignment deadlines. Personal Financial Plan: The Excel-based software guides students in making key decisions concerning every aspect of their financial plan. All of the worksheets in the software are linked, and students are prompted to revise their goals, cash flow statement, and personal balance sheet to demonstrate their understanding of the interrelationships inherent in their financial decisions. Each new copy of the textbook is packaged with a CD containing templates designed to run in Excel 97, Excel 2000, and Excel XP. Click on the Excel icon to download the abridged version of the Financial Planning Software. You should complete and print out the appropriate section of your Plan on a weekly basis using the Excel worksheets provided. Your textbook includes a hard copy of the templates at the end of each chapter. You can use these sheets to gather and organize your information prior to entering the data into the worksheet. In many cases, the Excel template is set up to automatically calculate the results as well as transfer information to the summary spreadsheets. Each worksheet should be completed in its entirety in order to receive maximum credit for your Financial Plan. Some of the topics may not directly apply to you at this time, but you should still complete the worksheet to gain knowledge of the topic area for the future. For the areas that do not apply to you at this time, you should use estimated or forecasted information. Incomplete or blank areas of your Financial Plan will result in a loss of credit! The Financial Plan that you submit (in hard copy form) at the end of the semester should include all of the completed templates including the summary worksheets. This cover sheet should be attached to all Financial Plans. Your Financial Plan can be mailed as long as it arrives by the deadline. Use the following address: Jim Keys, Finance Department College of Business Administration, RB 207B Florida International University, University Park Campus S.W. 8th Street Miami, Florida The Schedule will list the due date for the Financial Plan.
