2 ICT in the Caribbean 1. Caribbean Governments have signalled their intention to migrate to knowledge economies 2. They have been moving their manual data processes to information and communications systems 3. Increasing use is being made of the ICT and Internet resources both by Caribbean Governments and the Private sector
3 Current state of Cyber Security in the Caribbean Crime using computers is on the increase in the Caribbean but is not being reported/observed because of: Lack of detection Inadequate technical skills Fear of loss of confidence in organisations Shame Ignorance /lack of awareness No obligations to report This is the cyber criminal s nirvana
4 CTU Cyber Security Background 2005 to Date: Caribbean Internet Governance Forum Addressing Internet Governance topics of priority for the Caribbean 2007: Drafted the Caribbean Internet Governance Policy Framework which identified recommendations for policy development in IG including cyber security CTU has since been facilitating implementation of the policy framework including re cyber security 2013: Caribbean Internet Governance Policy Framework Issue 2 Expanded policy recommendations related to Cyber Security and Cyber Crime
