3 About this hospital list Saga Countrywide Hospital List As a Saga Health Insurance customer, you have access to an extensive list of hospitals, day-patient units, scanning centres and other private healthcare facilities. All of them are listed in this Saga Countrywide Hospital List. The benefits of our chosen hospitals Being treated in advanced medical facilities in a supportive, professional environment can play an important role in helping patients to recover. The hospitals included in the Saga Countrywide Hospital List will endeavour to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. You can usually have your own private room with en suite bathroom, television and telephone. You will usually be given a choice of dishes for each course at mealtimes and your visitors may, within reason, come and go as they wish. rivate hospitals and NHS hospitals with rivate atient Units This hospital list sets out all the private hospitals you can use and also includes NHS hospitals with rivate atient Units (Us). A U is a ward or unit in an NHS hospital set aside for private patients. Other NHS hospitals While only NHS hospitals with Us are listed in this guide, you can also use an NHS bed nominated as a private bed at any NHS hospital, but in such cases the level of accommodation may be the same as standard NHS accommodation. In fact, we will cover eligible at any NHS hospital, as long as it takes private patients. Advances in medical care mean that many operations are now undertaken on a day-patient basis. lease note that you may be cared for in an open day ward (rather than a single room) while you recover from an anaesthetic, to enable nursing staff to monitor your progress more effectively. ost hospitals now offer day-patient and we have included a number of purpose-built day-patient units in the Saga Countrywide Hospital List. Scanning centres A scanning centre is a centre in which out-patient CT (computerised tomography), RI (magnetic resonance imaging) and ET (positron emission tomography) is performed. 4 If you need to claim If you need to claim, the detailed lists on the following pages will help you to confirm whether your, or your specialist s, preferred hospital is on the list you have opted for. You may receive at any hospital on your chosen list. On rare occasions, where a condition requires or facilities that are not available in any hospital on your list, your specialist may wish to refer you to another private hospital. We will do our utmost to accommodate this, but as for all claims you must get written approval from us before any begins. This allows us to keep control of costs and provide you with guidance on your claim. There may be rare occasions when we suspend the use of a hospital or another facility listed in the Saga Countrywide Hospital List to protect the interest of our customers. We pay bills direct Wherever possible we settle bills directly with the hospital so that you do not have to worry about paying out large amounts of money. Some hospitals may ask you to pay for out-patient at the time of your consultation. We have a simple procedure that means you can reclaim these smaller amounts from us directly.
