BOND HILL COMMUNITY COUNCIL 2015 NBDIP REQUESTS Woodward High School Cincinnati Gardens Maketewah Country Club St. Aloysius HIGHTWO MINOR REQUESTS
BOND HILL COMMUNITY COUNCIL OBJECTIVE To help Bond Hill advance the community s economic development goals and fill a leadership role during the neighborhood s revitalization. We will seek the resources to fulfill this objective by pursuing financial resources, volunteers, and technical assistance. We will collaborate with community stakeholders including: The City of Cincinnati, The Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority, Greater Cincinnati Foundation, Roselawn Community Council, and The Community Building Institute to produce the creative solutions that are needed to address our community challenges.
STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS ABOUT BOND HILL NBDIP REQUEST NBDIP PREQUEST BOND HILL BUSINESS Bond Hill is part of Cincinnati s early neighborhood system. It is located in the geographic midpoint of Cincinnati. Bond Hill covers approximately a 1.5 mile radius with a population of 6,700 residents. IMPORTANT ADVANTAGES: Emerging Regional Employment Center; Home of Key Businesses and Civic Organizations: Mercy Health; Snapple; Messer Construction; Graeters; TechSolve I & II; Community Action Agency; St. Aloysius; Crayons To Computers; People Working Cooperatively; and The FreeStore Foodbank Distribution Center. $270 million Investment Over the Past 10 Years; $2.5 Billion in Purchasing Power Within a 3 Mile Radius; and Centrally Located with Direct Access to I-71, I-75, and Three Major City Thoroughfares.
ABOUT BOND HILL CHALLENGES: A decaying business district; A business district that lacks an identity that differentiates the district in a positive way from other communities; Lack of technical infrastructure that supports the needs of current and future business owners; and Lack of advocacy on behalf of existing small business owners. SOLUTION: Provide the supportive foundation and/or infrastructure for existing businesses, attract future investments and businesses to the Bond Hill Business District.
SERVICES OFFERED ABOUT BOND HILL $30,000 PROJECT TEAM: Joyce Powdrill, BH Resident and President, - J. Powdrill & Associates Susan Frankel, President Crayons To Computers Jim Hackman, Owner - Jim Hackman Consulting
SUCCESSFUL PROJECTS ABOUT BOND HILL As the Bond Hill business district grows, we believe access to a more robust and affordable Internet service will provide greater opportunity for economic development in the community by attracting and retaining new businesses. TRYING TO SOLVE: The more users attempting to use the Internet simultaneously, the slower Internet response becomes. This situation at times leads to wait times or the inability to reach a requested web page or server connection. This results in low productivity and a negative user experience. SCOPE OF WORK REQUESTED FROM CONSULTANT To conduct a study to understand the cause of the fluctuating Internet speed in Bond Hill and to facilitate collaboration with other concerned community stakeholders to improve the speed of broadband bandwidth. The goal will be to develop a plan to increase speed and affordable access based on a clear understanding of future capacity, possible infrastructure improvements, access to services, and affordable pricing.
ABOUT BOND HILL BOND HILL BUSINESS $30,000 PROJECT TEAM: Jeffrey Davis Bond Hill Council President Dr. Rea Waldon Bond Hill Council Vice President Minnete Brown Bond Hill Council Treasurer
