Jordan is a two-time state qualifier for top-ranked St. Paris Graham Local High School. He compiled a record between his sophomore and junior seasons, qualifying for state in the 152-pound weight class in 2014 before posting a third-place finish in 2015 at 170 pounds. He posted a 54-7 overall record his junior season and will serve as a team captain for his high school team this season. Jordan is expected to compete at 174 pounds at the collegiate level. Garrett is a tough-nosed kid with a lot of upside, Bono said. We can t wait to get him in the room. Justin Portillo, who is projected as a 125-pounder, enters his senior season at Clarion High School with a 74-5 career record. He finished as runner-up at 106 pounds as a sophomore, then claimed the state title last season en route to a 46-1 record. During the club season, Justin Portillo was a 2015 Iowa Triple Crown winner, claiming state titles in freestyle, Greco-Roman and folkstyle. He also recorded victories at several other prestigious regional tournaments, including winning the Intermat JJ Classic three times and claiming titles at both the Midwest Classic and Indiana Hoosier Preseason Open in Joshua Portillo has won consecutive state titles, completing a perfect 32-0 season in winning the 113-pound title as a sophomore and compiling a 50-1 record as a junior en route to winning the 126-pound Class 1A state championship. He also has excelled in folkstyle and freestyle tournaments, winning championships at the USA Wrestling Folkstyle Naitonals and Preseason Nationals, among others. Josh and Justin will have an immediate impact in our program, Bono said. The are tough, gritty kids who live and breathe the sport. During the season, the Jackrabbits posted their first winning dual record in nine seasons and three SDSU wrestlers Cody Pack, Nate Rotert and J.J. Everard qualified for the NCAA Championships. Pack reached the national tournament for the third consecutive year at 157 pounds and was one win away from achieving All-America status. SDSU also had three national qualifiers during the season as Pack, Joe Brewster and Alex Kocer all qualified out of the NCAA West Regional/Western Wrestling Conference Championships. While leading the Jackrabbits, Bono was also tabbed as coach for the U.S. Men's Freestyle team at the 2013 Pan American Championships.
