1 Software V NO. 1.7 Date 9/06 ROI Configuration Guide Before you begin: Note: It is important before beginning to review all installation documentation and to complete the ROI Network checklist for the site to be installed before beginning the install. Step 1 - Setup Using the ROI Network Checklist as a guide, identify a workstation on the End users network that meets the proper hardware specifications for the ROI Print Admin Software. Download the ROI Print Manager software from our website at to the desktop of this computer. Insure that you install ROI software on the default (C) drive. Go to Add or Remove Programs and then to Add / Remove Windows Components. Ensure that the target machine has IIS installed and that it has the proper extensions: o o o o Common Files Front Page 2000 Server Extensions Internet Information Services Snap in World Wide Web Service (NOTE: If installing on a Windows 2003 server, Make sure the ASP.NET box is checked. Also active server pages will have to be allowed from Services and Applications / IIS manager / Web server extensions) Ensure no firewall is running on the ROI Print Admin Console. There must be no firewall on the Print Admin console for the duration of the assessment. If using ROI built in push technology, the firewalls on the client workstations should be down for the purposes of deployment. After the agent is installed they can be brought back up. If this is an issue, suggest packaging an agent and deploying via login script, SMS, or Zen Works (See related documentation ) Ensure the system date and time are correct on the ROI Admin Console machine.

2 Begin the install. If SQL Server 2005 Express is not loaded, ROI will prompt the user to install it.

4 Once the install process has completed launch the ROI Print Admin console from start/programs/pcs/roiprintmanager/roiprintadmin Click on the System icon and click OK to the two informational messages. This will take you to a screen with 6 tabs. The next step is to register the product. Select the licensing tab and click on the register button.

5 Click on the link to the registration website. Fill out the information about the Site on the Reg screen. and click on the Register button. This will give you a registration code. Copy it and paste it back into the open field on the registration screen as seen in the screenshot below.

6 Click Activate and then the OK button. At this point we are registered but not licensed. Click on Add License and then the Link.

7 Here you will enter in the address associated with the license and a Pack code (if license issued by ). If inputting a Print Assessment license see field licensing document. Click the Generate button and then copy the license code. Paste the license code back in the empty field on the ROI Print Admin licensing tab as seen below.

8 Once the license has been successfully installed in Print Management mode you will see an additional 4 icons along the left hand side of the screen. If you licensed in Print Assessment mode, you will still only have two icons (Network Discovery and System) on the left hand side of the screen. Now you can begin to configure the software. Click on the Network discovery icon and then select the method of discovery. For the purposes of this guide, NT domain is selected.

9 Select the domain or workgroup you want to use and click discover. Make sure the ROI admin computer is part of the selection of workstations. Input the name of the ROI Print Admin computer in place of <ROI Server Name> and hit save.

11 Put checks next to the computers you want to deploy to and hit the deploy button. Always start with 1 or 2 computers and verify their communications before pushing to the entire network. Initially they will report back a 1/1 under downloads / uploads. After they log off and back on the will see a 2/2 and once they begin to print the numbers will increment up on both sides of the download/upload column. This is what tells you that the computers are communicating to the collection point machine. Disregard computers that appear in grey. Computers in grey are shares off of the workstations and they will not have agents deployed to them. Once you have verified communications to a few computers, you can continue the deployment to the rest of the computers on the network. You are now done with the install.
