2 February 2010 February 2012: Post-doctoral fellow Attosecond Science Laboratory Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas, Heraklion, Greece Project coordinators: Prof. Dimitrios Charalambidis, Dr. Paris Tzallas August 2008 January 2010: Post-doctoral fellow Laboratory for Free Clusters and Molecules Max-Born-Institut für Nichtlineare Optik und Kurzzeitspektroskopie, Berlin, Germany Project coordinator: Dr. Thomas Schultz Referee in international scientific journals: Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular & Optical Physics Co-organization of Meetings/ Workshops: ATTOFEL Summer School, ATTOFEL Marie Curie Initial Training Network Ultrafast Dynamics using ATTosecond and XUV Free Electron Laser Sources, Crete, Greece, May 2011 RESEARCH FIELDS AND INTERESTS Fiber Optics/ Photonics: Optical properties of photonic devices that combine microstructured optical fibers and integrated structures of different materials (polymeric materials, glasses) and spherical symmetry, with sizes of several micrometers (1 micrometer = 10-6 m), and their applications in photonics, sensors etc. Optical Physics/ Laser Physics: Generation of femtosecond (1 fs = sec) laser radiation in the spectral region of the near infrared and ultraviolet (UV and vacuum UV/ XUV) with the method of supercontinuum generation (filamentation/ self-phase modulation) or by producing harmonics/ high harmonics in noble gases and applications in ultrafast molecular spectroscopy. Laser Molecular Spectroscopy: Dynamics of ultrashort photophysical and photochemical reactions of gas-phase molecules, which are completed within a few tens to hundreds of femtoseconds. The study of molecular dynamics refers to the direct measurement of the deactivation times of the electronically excited molecular systems, as well as to the characterization of their intermediate electronic states and/ or structures during the reaction. The pump-probe technique used to study the evolution of the dynamics of the molecules in real time combines (multiphoton) ionization at 800/400/200 nm, after absorption in the UV/ VUV, and analysis of the respective mass and photoelectron spectra. These processes include photo-dissociation, isomerization and non radiative decay to the ground state, important for applications in physics, chemistry and biology, as well as for understanding the physical mechanisms governing fundamental problems of molecular physics.
