2 EXPERIENCE Academic: x Assistant Professor: Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Bahrain, Sept present. x Fulbright Scholar: Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Texas at Austin, USA, Sept Sept Industrial: 1) Summer 1997: Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) x Simulated a model for the overhead of a distillation column using PRO II in order to find a scenario that leads to increase in the yield of expensive light components in an oil refinery. x Prepared a written memorandum to highlight the results of the simulation. x Monitored the performance of the Fluid Catalytic Cracking Units (FCCU) with the Technical Services Department (TSD) engineers. 2) Summer 1996: Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) x Joined the Technical Service engineers responsible for the shutdown of Low Sulfur Fuel Oil (LSFO) in which the catalyst was changed and the internals of the reactors were inspected. x Supervised the sub-contractors carrying out major project tasks. x Appreciated the team ethics in a large industrial institution throughout the duration of a critical shutdown. 3) Summer 1995: Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) x Simulated a model for the vacuum column, distillation column, and a stabilizer using Hysis. x Monitored the performance of a crude complex unit with the Technical Services Department (TSD) engineers.

AREE is a North American Web portal that links educational research and engineering domains. ¾ Won Fulbright scholarship for postdoc research by the Institute of International Education (USA) at the Chemical Engineering Department in University of Texas at Austin. ¾ Selected for listing in the Marquis Who s Who in the World, 2007, 24 th edition, because of reference value of his outstanding achievements. ¾ Honored for Academic Excellency During the Annual Education-Day under the Patronage of his Highness the Prime Minster of Bahrain (Ph.D), Bahrain, ¾ Supervised Best College of Engineering Graduation Project (BSc) (1 st semester, ). ¾ Won a scholarship from Norsk Hydro (Norwegian) to read for Phd in Process Intensification & Innovation Centre (PIIC) at University of Newcastle upon Tyne (UK). The department of Chemical and Process Engineering at Newcastle University has an excellent research rating of (5) among the UK universities. ¾ Won a scholarship from Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) to study MEng. at Newcastle upon Tyne University - UK. ¾ Leader of a 5-member group to design a chemical plant for the graduation project. The title of the project was Electrochemical Production of Adiponitrile Using Undivided Cell Technology.

6 ¾ Awarded the British Petroleum Award for best 10 students (Fifth) for Stage 1. Furthermore, I won a prize for the best design team in Stage 1 (leader of the group).
