A BC Cherry leaves the tree first thing in the morning and arrives on the table in Hong Kong the next day. BC Cherries are big business in China with the BC Cherry Association estimating that by the end of this year, the sales value of fresh cherries to China will be $10 million, increasing to $20 million over the next 5 years. Our next guest works for the biggest importer of fresh fruits in HK and will bring us up to speed on the value of BC Cherries and blueberries to his company. Last year, Leo estimates that he imported 13 containers of BC white and dark cherries.

Every year, the Hong Kong 7s welcomes teams from around the world to one of the biggest rugby 7s parties hosted by any participating country in the 7s world series. As we established earlier, there are hundreds of thousands of Canadians living in HK and naturally, there s a lot of support for Canada in the Hong Kong stadium each year. But the Canadian National team continued to disappoint Canadian expats year in and year out. Being an amatuer team, they were outperformed by professional squads from Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. In 2005, two of those devastated Canadian expats, Randy Heward and John Woodward came up with the idea of the Canadian Rugby 7s Fund to raise money to bolster the Canadian team and they have surpassed expectations! In 2013, $188,000 was raised and the growing support has helped Canada become a top tier competitor internationally, at the Hong Kong 7s and qualifiers for the 2016 Olympics. While Nick Marsh and Kirti Lad agree that an aspiration gap is part of the problem, they don t think it s the only challenge preventing women from getting a seat at the table. Nick and Kirti say that self-doubt and lack of confidence is a big barrier -- what s the solution? The grapes are harvested, frozen and shipped to HK where they are thawed, then aged and blended at the company headquarters. 8th Estate Winery is the only winery in the world that has 5 vintages from 5 different countries under one roof! What were the challenges in setting up the first winery in Hong Kong under the age of 30?
