Geothermal Heat Pumps Geothermal Heat Pumps are the talk of the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) world, and for good reason. Geounits provide real benefits to both their owners' homes, and checkbooks. 4 the savings can be significant. The most efficient gas furnace has an efficiency rating of 97%. Geothermal delivers a 400% efficiency rating, delivering 4 units of energy for every 1 unit of electrical energy. Geothermal units ARE an investment - one with payback resulting from the combination of lower operating cost, longer life expectancy, credits and rebates that make this investment worthwhile. The 30% uncapped federal tax credit will be in effect through the end of 2016, and most local utilities offer some form of rebate or credit for geothermal units as well. As with all mechanical equipment these units do require maintenance and this should be done before each heating or cooling season. HFI has recently begun recycling in the office/shop! Led by the "Green Team" to be more environmentally conscious, we have begun recycling paper, plastic, cans, newspapers and magazines. Kids in the U.S. grow up expecting a delivery of eggs and candy from the Easter bunny each year, but it may seem odd to an outsider. Brought to this country by German immigrants in the 1700s, the practice is rooted in the belief that rabbits and eggs symbolize fertility and rebirth. While this may be the norm in America, however, other cultures have their own, unique Easter celebrations. Whether it's drenching one another with water in Poland or reading crime novels in Norway, you can search the internet to find out more Easter traditions around the world. We have partnered with The Boys and Girls Clubs of Bloomington to help us with our efforts! HFI plans to "give back" to The Boys and Girls Clubs Teen Program for their efforts.
