1 NONPROFIT RESOURCE FAIR AT THE HURT BUILDING - EXHIBITORS DIRECTORY This mini-directory lists technical assistance providers who were exhibitors at the Nonprofit Resource Fair at the Hurt Building on Jan. 28, It is not meant to be an exhaustive list, but an introduction to the resources and services available to nonprofits in Atlanta and Georgia. Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Greater Atlanta Chapter 44 Broad Street, NW, Suite afpatlanta.afpnet.org Geographic scope: Metro Atlanta The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) represents nearly 28,000 members in more than 180 chapters throughout the world working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. The association fosters development and growth of fundraising professionals and promotes high ethical standards in the fundraising profession. The Greater Atlanta Chapter's nearly 400 members reflect a cross-section of Atlanta's nonprofit community, as well as the consultants and resource partners who serve the industry. The chapter fulfills its mission through the following core activities: education, training, mentoring, research, credentialing and advocacy. Lowery Blvd. NW Atlanta, GA Geographic scope: Metro Atlanta & North Georgia Founded in 1979, the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) currently distributes nearly two million pounds of food and other donated grocery items each month to more than 700 nonprofit partner agencies in 38 counties in Metro Atlanta and North Georgia. ACFB supports a wide range of people in need, from children to the working poor. Food pantries, community kitchens, childcare centers, night shelters and senior centers are among the agencies that receive products from the Food Bank and provide food and other critical resources for low-income Georgians who suffer from hunger and food insecurity. Any nonprofit organization within our service area that provides free food to low income persons may be eligible for partnership with the Food Bank. The Food Bank also operates several community projects to aid our agencies in community building, technical assistance and advocacy efforts. For more information on our programs, or how to become a partner agency, please visit our website at Atlanta Community ToolBank 55 Ormond Street SE Atlanta, GA atlanta.toolbank.org Geographic scope: North Georgia The ToolBank is the largest nonprofit tool lending program in the U.S., founded and based in Atlanta. We only deal with nonprofits and community groups. Membership dues are based on the agency's annual budget. Fees to borrow tools for two weeks are 6% of retail value. The $500,000 ToolBank inventory includes more than 150 varieties of carpentry, cleaning, painting and landscape tools. We also have some building materials and hardware that are available to members for a negligible handling fee. Among our many activities, we offer: networking opportunities among program evaluators; forums for cross-fertilization of evaluation ideas across professions, settings, and content areas; training and skill-building sessions; and special interest groups addressing specific areas such as international evaluation and community capacity. For organizations with limited evaluation resources or who are new to evaluation, we offer a new evaluators curriculum, periodic workshops on building capacity, and some limited technical assistance and coaching from professional evaluators. Atlanta Hawks 101 Marietta Street NW, Suite Geographic scope: Primarily Metro Atlanta The Atlanta Hawks is dedicated to improving the quality of life of Georgia youth by inspiring them to develop a passion for learning and a commitment to physical fitness and recreation. Through our Commitment to the Community Program, we have been able to help several non-profit organizations gain exposure and raise money for their organization. Atlanta Nonprofit Professionals (ANP) Georgia Center for Nonprofits 50 Hurt Plaza SE, Suite / (outside Atlanta) Geographic scope: Metro Atlanta Atlanta Nonprofit Professionals mission is to connect and strengthen nonprofit professionals in metro Atlanta. For current nonprofit professionals and those planning to enter the nonprofit sector, ANP offers opportunities for training and leadership development through programs sponsored by the Georgia Center for Nonprofits. ANP sponsors two networking events each month: a networking social on third Thursdays and a career-growth event on second Mondays. Atlanta Thrashers 101 Marietta Street NW, Suite thrashers.nhl.com Geographic scope: Primarily Metro Atlanta The Atlanta Thrashers is dedicated to supporting Georgia-based organizations committed to improving the lives of children. The Foundation will work with children s charities and programs that focus on the areas of health, wellness, education and youth hockey development. Through our Commitment to the Community Program, we have been able to help several non-profit organizations gain exposure and raise money for their organization. Community Consulting Teams Atlanta (CCT-Atlanta) 248 Connecticut Avenue Atlanta, GA Geographic scope: Primarily Metro Atlanta Community Consulting Teams (CCT)-Atlanta is an all-volunteer organization whose mission is to help non-profit/public sector organizations address strategic management challenges. Each year, CCT recruits experienced business professionals for project teams that address business and management problems submitted by local organizations. Since 1996, CCT has completed 100+ projects in diverse areas such as feasibility analysis and market assessment, marketing strategies and plans, operational effectiveness & business processes, and growth strategies and planning. We welcome client applications each September, select clients in December, kick off project teams in January, and complete projects by early June. Our goal is to inspire collaborations, support one another and serve the Metro Atlanta community. COVA is an organization of volunteer administrators (managers, coordinators, etc.) and executive directors who lead volunteers, students interested in the profession, consultants, trainers, job seekers and community leaders. Its purpose is to develop leadership and sound management practices for volunteer administration and to promote volunteer administration as a profession. 4 The Foundation Center s mission is to strengthen the nonprofit sector by advancing knowledge about U.S. philanthropy. People TV s Office of Community Development offers free production services for other nonprofits in the Atlanta metro area. If you have a need to spotlight a nonprofit organization in a 30 minute show, 30- second public service announcement, and display community event information on cable television, People TV is the place to go. People TV cablecasts on Comcast channel 24 to 100,000 plus households throughout Atlanta and is also accessible via live web streaming and internet video files playable on demand. Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta 999 Peachtree Street NE, Suite 2300 Atlanta, GA Geographic Scope: Metro Atlanta Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta provides free legal assistance to community-based nonprofits that serve low-income or disadvantaged individuals. We match eligible organizations with volunteer attorneys from the leading corporations and law firms in Atlanta who can assist nonprofits with their business law matters. In addition to direct legal assistance, we also provide free workshops on legal topics of interest to non-profits. Organizations eligible for Pro Bono Partnership services must meet the following criteria: Be a nonprofit organization, serve low-income or disadvantaged individuals, and not be able to afford legal services.
