10 Trinity County s Five General Aviation, Community Airports* Hayfork Hyampom (Non-NPIAS) Lonnie Poole Field Ruth Trinity Center *Community Airports provide access to other regions and states; located near small communities or in remote locations; serve, but are not limited to, recreational flying, training, and local emergencies; accommodate predominantly single engine aircraft under 12,000 pounds; provide basic or limited services for pilots or aircraft. 16 Discrepancies Regulations, Permits & Annual Inspections California State law, FAA Design Standards and Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) require airports to achieve and maintain: FAA geometric design standards required: Runway Safety Areas and Object Free Areas Clear imaginary surfaces - Primary, Approach & Transitional (required per FAR 77) FAA Advisory Circulars Airport conditions must protect safety of flight Department conducts annual safety compliance inspections for all 254 public use and 150 private use hospital heliports: Verify FAA design, State/Federal regulations and permit requirements are achieved and maintained Follow-up discrepancy reports issued within 20 working days Establish corrective action/timelines; Aeronautics Permit Committee consulted when compliance action or permit changes are warranted Compliance action (night restrictions, suspension of State-issued Airport Permit, etc) taken when necessary to protect the flying public Caltrans Division of Aeronautics 16
